It's not an issue I have at all with the original Metroid (or say like, Blaster Master), but I really wish Metroid 2 had some kind of map system. I think it being black and white doesn't help, it's so hard to navigate, lol. Maybe I can power through it eventually.

Sounds like I'll just start with the first Mario Land then! Any other platformers you guys would recommend? Unless I should start my own thread (was thinking of asking this about SNES games too for more non-obvious choices).

Metroid II was soooo good. Playing on a later version SP with the brighter screen helps for the dark rooms as well

it occurs to me I haven't really been updating this post as I'm adding stuff to the blog lately. Anyway, just posted about a 2004 issue of PSM that MechBlue sent me in a trade. :)

just a heads up on some recent posts... I covered the two Summer Gaming titles that I've completed so far: Mr. Driller and Dead Or Alive. Also, a reminder that me and dsheinem teamed up to do a hard-hitting expose on the GBA's launch.

So, I've been searching for a Game Boy Player but have two questions. I found one in a local store for $30, looks to have everything including the manual. That a decent price for one? I don't see that Gamestop carries them anymore. Also, in the Wikipedia entry (I know...) there is a line that says "The Game Boy Player allows users to set a timer from one to sixty minutes.", what the heck does that mean?

I got an SP from a yard sale a few months ago and I love playing it, it's actually my first foray into handhelds, it just wears on my wrists after 30-45 minutes of playing. I really should have taken better care of myself when I was wrenching full time.

Thanks!

$30 is SLIGHTLY high in my opinion. I don't know about GameStop carrying them or not. But when they last did they were $10. But hey -- it's still a great thing to have.

That stupid timer was just so parents could limit kids' playing time. AKA: it does nothing you care about.

Lol, We should really just set up a stickied thread for the Gameboy Player.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Or perhaps a Gameboy Player Guide in the Guides section? There are already GB Player posts with interesting tricks such as utilizing extra GB Players with extra TVs for Zelda Four Swords and Pacman VS. Maybe noise could compile a Guide including the various posts and articles from Game Boy Player Land?

for a while I've wanted to make a nice guide about all the games you can play multiplayer on the GBPlayer (IE: one Cube, one cart, 2 controllers). Ah, someday. My "to write" list is pretty long!
