Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch
Re: Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch
An auto-equip feature would be interesting, prioritizing the next weakest (or strongest) weapon in your inventory.

Well, I was thinking of the farmer's pitchfork that I picked up at the stables on the way to Kakariko village, but to each their own.prfsnl_gmr wrote:The mop!marlowe221 wrote:There's only one weapon that anyone playing a Zelda game gives a shit about anyway.
That would be good. Another good addition would be the ability to drop a weapon when my inventory is full while I'm still in the chest-opening dialogue boxes. As it is now, I have to close the chest, open my inventory, select a weapon, choose drop from the list of options, close my inventory, and then open the chest all over again.Sarge wrote:An auto-equip feature would be interesting, prioritizing the next weakest (or strongest) weapon in your inventory.
That's happened to me at least 10 times already and that is the game literally wasting my time.

I love the game, but I agree with all of your complaints about inventory management.

You'd constantly be re-equipped with either the useless Deku leaf, or the situational fire/ice/thunder rods though, as they all have low power.Sarge wrote:An auto-equip feature would be interesting, prioritizing the next weakest (or strongest) weapon in your inventory.

There are ways to logic around that one. Perhaps even mark certain weapons as a "do not auto-equip under any circumstances". Seems like it'd be pretty easy to implement.
I definitely agree that a menu should pop up with treasure chests to drop stuff. That would also go a long way.
As with most games, even fantastic ones, there are always little things that are annoying. Even my favorite RPG of all time has some annoying quirks and areas.

I think we can all agree that a dialog to replace a chest weapon with a random weapon would be amazing.

By doubling the durability of a weapon, you give the player the comfort of only using the same weapon or weapon type only. I can easily find another sword before my currently equipped breaks if it is double durability. You need that inconvenience in order to adapt to new combat situations and to think on your toes. That is part of the fun.

Double durability isn't that huge a boost, though. It's still going to wear out pretty quickly.
I mean, I get why they did it, I just think it distracts from some of the things the game does better. And by no means does it break the game, because sometimes frantic weapon-swapping in mid-battle (whacking an enemy to the ground, grabbing his weapon, and using it to finish them off) is pretty sweet.

I also think that the way that weapons break in the game could be improved. I understand breaking my sword if I am hitting it against a stone talus, but it is weird breaking a sledgehammer on a chuchu.
Accounting for an enemy's "softness" would make the system a bit more intuitive.
EDIT: I also still plan to deliver the deathblow to at least one major enemy with a mop. So...basically...at the end of the game, Ganon will look at me in terror, knowing that I murdered all of his henchmen, defeated the most difficult trials, overcame every obstacle placed in my path, that he is at death door, and that I am about to murder him...with a mop.

Bit of a let down, I never got Epona.
Apparently a known bug, I borrowed a Link Amiibo from my friend, but I used it during the opening section of the game, apparently it is bugged. If you use it for the first time before leaving the opening area you can't get Epona from it.
Minor, but annoying. Would be nice if they fix it so it is the first time you use the amiibo outside of the opening area.
