$20 cart only? That's crazy. Great game though.

Yep! That's why it stayed on the shelf.

So the AC port on top is for tethered play? I saw that they had an ac adapter for $5, might have to grab that. Also, what size of coin cell does this take? Mine didn't even come with a battery. :?
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

that's a fair price on the AC. I'm assuming it was 3rd party?

The battery is the same as a Dreamcast VMU battery... CR2032.

I've doubled my little NGPC collection this week. Picked up:

Neo Geo Cup 98 Plus boxed and complete for £6
Puzzle Bobble Mini (Bust a Move) boxed and complete for £7
Pacman cart only but including the crossrings which edged me into picking this up £6

and lasty

SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium boxed and complete for the more princely sum of £30

The latter 3 should hopefully arrive in the next few days and I'm looking at adding Bio Motor Unitron as my next pickup. These are all the PAL versions with the hard plastic cases. I know the price guide says MotM goes cheaper in the NA market but I haven't seen it complete for the price I got it for here and I wanted to get it before I head out to Asia in a few weeks. I'll post a pic when I get 'em all.

On that note, what do you fellows use to carry your NGPC around in when taking it and the games on trips. Is there any kind of nice case or wallet available that suits it?

Mine fits well with all the cartridges in my original Gameboy case. Heresy, I know. But it hasn't been broken into a million pieces yet, and that's good enough for me.

Nice! The restrictor ring is a must.

Self-promotion... here's my thoughts on this port of Pac-Man: http://noiseredux.weebly.com/pac-man.html

Mine doesn't leave the house too often, but there is an SNK carry case out there. Though it's not usually too cheap:

Interesting read, thanks. I was never too interested in picking up Pacman for this system as I already have PacMan collection for GBA which has the two versions of classic pacman included on this game as well. However its interesting to read that this version might be some harder edition of the game.

The restrictor ring I figured might come in handy for other games as well and I'm a sucker for any silly little add on like this that games come with.

Thanks for posting the link to the SNK carry case. I think I'll just pick up a generic handheld case though, it seems a bit pricey for what it is and right now I'd rather spend that money on games for the device.

a few thoughts on my two most recent games...

Image

"Everyone" seems to refer to this game as SNK Vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium... however, I'm trying to figure out why. The front cover would have you believe that the proper title is actually Match of the Millenium: SNK Vs. Capcom, right? With "MOTM" in big huge letters, and "SvC" pretty tiny. But even more so, the spine of the box simply titles the game Match of the Millennium.

Image

And same w/ this. While you always see this listed as SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash, the CFC name is prominent on the front artwork, w/ the SVC logo small below it. And the spine reads on Card Fighters' Clash.

If you're wondering, I've filed them under "M" and "C" respectively. Whenever such questions have arisen w/ my Dreamcast library, I've tended to decide that the spine is the 'real' title.

...ANYWAY, about the games:

MOTM is of course awesome. I tend to make it up to the last bosses on one credit, and then rage-quit though.

CFC I started playing before bed last night, and then wished I had started earlier. Seems like a really good game. One that would be easy to get hooked on. I never really play these kind of card games, so I'm sure I'm not fully understanding all the rules yet. Will have to read through the manual. But it's nice that a full tutorial is featured within the game as well.

CFC is incredible. It's so simple yet so horribly addictive. I remember a few years ago I rowed a boat out into the middle of a lake on a glorious sunny day in Sweden.

I found myself pulling out CFC and playing it then thinking "what the hell am I doing!"

It sucks you in so badly.

I've recently been reunited with my NGPC and restarted the game (Capcom version). Understanding it a lot better this time and am up to the final battle but still too underpowered to win. My advice would be skip the tutorial, it's too long winded and seems too complex. It put me off the first time I tried it. Learn the game simply by playing and watching what the CPU does.

It's such a good game that I'm considering picking up the SNK version (even though I've heard it's the same game with different cards) just to play it again after I beat this one (as, sadly there is only one save per cart).
