I wish I could. That fight isn't memorable to me. Just be slow and methodical. Lure in units and protect the weak ones.Stark wrote:Awesome! I am getting them now too, although I only have 3 right now (2 of which I actually had to fight for). So ... can you give me some tips for the Paralogue I'm talking about? It's one, where you get a guy on a wyvern, and it just has a crap ton of enemies, archers and wyvern mounted ones and several bridges to different islands. My guys just get tore up on the main bridge.

Re: RPG Progress Report
My advice is generally that if you cant hold your own on the bridge, you're probably just underlevelled for the map. Pairing up your highest defence units such as Generals, Great Knights and Paladins to hold the bridge might work as the defence boosts could help you hold out, but you'd probably find the flying units cause you issues then by attacking your mage and archer back ups. It's probably one of the hardest paralogues - they don't really seem to be numbered in difficulty order.Stark wrote:Awesome! I beat that level when I was already at a high enough level for one or two guys to hold each bridge, and for my 4 flying units to shoot about taking out the enemy flyers and the odd archer who left himself open. You get an item for each villager you keep alive too, so it may be better to come back when you can spread out your team with less concern.

When I did that map I think I had 6 fliers, so I sent them as sweepers against the enemy fliers, leaving my main force to stomp across the bridges.

Defeated the first boss - took two tries and I got my first game over in the process. Turns out you have to be kinda slow and methodical while fighting these guys. Reminds me of another certain Falcom series...
I gained an increase in max HP after I took down the boss. So yeah, doesn't look like this game has a traditional RPG leveling system. Grinding does nothing except net you more money. So I guess this is more like a Zelda-ish "action-adventure" - whatever, I'm still posting my updates here.
I left off in a forest area. The difficulty has spiked a little bit in the past hour.
The music is pretty cute. Kinda has that quirky EarthBound vibe:
Anyone else ever play this? I know flojocabron said he was a fan, but I don't think he posts in this thread.

Finished the forest area - second half took me about 40 minutes.
I feel like I never have enough money to buy new items and equipment... I wonder if you're supposed to roll through the dungeons multiple times to money-grind or if I just suck?
I'm about 3.5 hours in. HowLongToBeat says the game is 8-12 hours, but I'm always a little slow though so I'm looking at 15 minimum. I'd like to finish it without resorting to any maps or walkthroughs too.

Not much to say about FF1. But my party is a little over leveled, which feel's nice. Can't wait for the class switch.

Too early to tell, but I am strongly leaning toward "yes, it is better"Ack wrote:Better than the first? I have beaten the first but never tried the second.dsheinem wrote:Started Torchlight 2. It is awesome.
