took your advice and bought this and so far I love it. But something weird... a couple of times now after I've destroyed a boss and it blows up, the screen goes black and freezes and then my PSP hard-resets. Did you encounter that at all? Pretty weird.

I did have that happen to me once I believe. I had no idea what it could have been, it's interesting that you had the problem as well. Luckily for me it wasn't after any real challenging boss fights.

Killzone 3 is certainly an early contender for GOTY, and is even better than Killzone 2, which up until this point was my favorite console exclusive FPS of all time.
As a retro gamer, I am far from a graphics whore. That said, when it comes to FPS games I really do like the games to push graphics as much as possible - it adds to the sense of immersion and realism unlike in any other genre. Killzone 3 is gorgeous, and is on par with (or maybe slightly better than) both Uncharted 2 or God of War 3 as the best looking games this generation. In addition, the weapons and bullets "feel" and sound solid, the challenge on the default setting is adequate but not unfair , there is a healthy variety of missions to mix things up, and the environments are quite varied and colorful. My only gripe is that I wish the game were longer - this series keeps getting shorter, as is the unfortunate trend in FPS games these days. However, if the multiplayer is as good as all the reviews suggest it is, there's plenty to go back to beyond the campaign.
I don't understand why some reviews pan the game for its story, as the story was certainly coherent and much more interesting than that found in plenty of other action games. In any case, this is an excellent FPS, and I would be shocked if anything other than the upcoming PC version of Rage gave it a run for the money this year in the genre.

did a little digging.... turns out the bug occurs after putting the PSP to sleep usually.

My thoughts...No, my rant.
This game was a stupid mess. I am sure there was a good game somewhere on that bluray disc. I am not sure where, though. I have never seen a game where all the best action sequences are cut-scenes and all the parts I actually get to play are annoying and awkward. And that's saying a lot because I feel like I didn't even get to PLAY that much. I just watched endless cutscenes of inane conversation that made NO SENSE whatsoever.
It was all pretentious pseudo-intellectual drivel that tried to pass itself off as legitimate conversation on international security without having any actual substance. It's like the creators wanted something important to talk about but did no further research than a quick wiki check and even THAT was just to get the spelling right. Screw actually knowing what you're writing about.
I will applaud the game for excellent mechanics and some really clever ideas, especially revisiting a certain locale from a previous game. I also tip my hat off to how well the previous games were tied in. In the end though, the whole thing was ruined by Hideo Kojima's idiotic ego and lack of restraint.
At least I'll always have Metal Gear Solid 3 to play again
Edit: Also cleared Capcom vs SNK 2 for the Dreamcast. Pretty much identical to the other two versions I have played through though the difficulty level seemed a little wonky. Still one of the best fighters ever made.

Gave this game another shot after years of disliking the series. I talked about it a fair amount in my RE topic, so I won't go into it here.
Suffice it to say, I'm happy I revisited this game. It was definitely worth it.

1. Lego Indiana Jones 2 (360) - 1000/1000
2. Star Wars The Force Unleashed II (360) - 1200/1200
3. Afterburner Climax (XBLA) - 200/200 + both avatar awards
4. Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing (360) - 1000/1000
5. Bully Scholarship Edition (360) - 1000/1000
6. Conan (360) - 1000/1000I actually knocked out most of Conan late last year, but on my final playthrough on the hardest difficulty I got stuck on one of the bosses midway through the game and after numerous tries I walked away from the game to play other things. Typically that would have been the end of that and I would have let so much time lapse after I quit playing that by the time I went back to the game my skills would have atrophied and I never would have been able to complete it on the hardest difficulty setting - and I sure wouldn't want to start over knowing I was almost done when I had quit.
This year I'm trying to take a chunk out of my backlog, and one part of that is finishing off the games I stopped mid-playthrough for whatever reason. So I picked up Conan yesterday and plugged away until I completed it.
I got Conan for $5 new from a bargain bin at a local electronics store and I enjoyed it, especially for that price. It's kind of a God of War wannabe with gratuitous gore and ridiculous topless women that need to be rescued. I probably would have thought it was the best game ever when I was 12... but 12 year olds nowadays are probably not as easy to impress.
It's a pretty fun action game though, and I really liked the music in it. The last boss is a pain in the butt on any difficulty, and on the hardest he's just awful. I got to his final form with one hit worth of life left and then spent about 2 hours trying to do the final part perfectly so that I wouldn't get one hit killed, and I've had plenty of experience beating him on other playthroughs, so inexperience wasn't an issue, he's just plain cheap and the camera fights you the whole time. Ugh. But in the end I persevered and did it.
Oh, and it's probably obvious by now, but if not I'm only adding items to this list when I've totally completed them. Cause I'm a weirdo. Technically I "Beat" things, but until I finish everything I don't see it as completed. (Which doesn't bode well for me ever finishing my backlog in my lifetime...

)

Mega Man 2...again and again and again.
My list blows, as I haven't had the time to keep up with it or give the reviews I'd like to.
BUT! I'm keep on keeping on.

i recently acquired this game not because i wanted to play it but because i am trying to collect all sega cd games. i had some downtime today and figured i would try it out. i haven't heard much good things about this game, so i was expecting to only play it for a few minutes and shut her off. but, i was pleasantly surprised. most importantly, the controls are tight and handles very well. however, the graphics are AWFUL. the game would be better simply by improving the cluster fuck of pixels. it makes me want to try out the 32x version. also, you can punch your opponents, road rash style. the courses are kind of blah, however. but, overall it isn't a bad game and is kind of fun to play. and it took only 30ish minutes to beat. but, to play on hard mode you have to enter a password, which is stupid.
