Man, have I wanted to post in the Games Beaten thread so much. The problem is all the games I'm working my way through are long.
Deus Ex is probably going to have taken 40 hours by the time I'm done (100% completionist route), Blacklist is at least a 10 hour game from what I've read. I haven't even dived more than a few hours into Pikmin 3. What is a man to do?!

Play video games all weekend that's what.
I'm lucky...my wife and I will be snowed in, so, aside from doing our taxes, all we have to do is play games!

I know everybody's budgets differ but I thought $99 was a pretty decent entry point. As much bad-mouthing as some people on the internet give it, I don't regret my Ouya purchase. I will say that there is some controller lag. People say that using a PS3 controller improves this. I have yet to purchase one, but it may be worth keeping in mind that it may tack on additional expense. Emulation has been pretty fun for this casual player. I've played mostly NES emulators, and maybe one SNES game.
Ehh honestly, I agree. $99 is decent enough, I could certainly afford it in a paycheck or two (I just went slightly over-budget doing a 3DO mod)... but cheaper is always better y'know? I'm sure I can stumble on someone selling a used one, but if I don't in the next couple months I'll buy one new.
And yeah, it'll be NES and a little SNES/Genesis emulation for when I'm feeling really lazy in my bed.
Edit: Also, I have 4 PS3 controllers already so that will not be a problem to try out and see if they help.
I know this probably depends a lot on location and time period, but any one has any idea how much you would expect to make from an arcade machine back in the day? Say 1993 ?
Those machines are STILL expensive and playing them was for pennies. We used to pay about $0.25 to play, thats not factoring in maintenance .

I had a friend that worked in the mall arcade around 92 or so. One night I was giving him a ride home or we were headed somewhere after he got off work or something and his boss let me hand around while he cleaned and emptied machines. He also gave me a bunch of free credits and I fed my way through Smash TV. I'm thinking that might have had the equivalent of $30 of tokens in the box, being a popular, but 2 year old game at the time. I know that they'd pull fat stacks of cash (mostly ones) out of the token exchange machines every night at the time.
I'll probably get it soon enough. I just typed in the name of the game on eBay. My heart started racing anticipating the $100 listings, but as it turned out the game goes for about......... 5 bucks.
I just finished Link Between Worlds, so I tried to find a game to play an complete within a week, before Bravely Default hits. I wanted to play Bowser's Inside Story, but it appears to take 20-30 hours to complete. I'd have to play about four hours a day to complete by thursday. I settled on Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon.

Good choice. Excellent game. Especially in 30-40 minute sittings.
