The last time I tried to beat it was 2010, I got to the end of disc 2 and when I swapped to disc 3 the Playstation froze up and had to be restarted and it stopped reading my memory card. This time though, cellphone with backups. I will beat this stupid game in 2017.

last time I tried was the Steam version in 2013. I think I'm on the five year plan. I'll try again in 2018. Stupid game.

I've tried to beat VII 3x actually got to the final dungeon my first time back around 2000. However some asshat told me to get the 100 knight summon or whatever and after grinding for a few days trying to get a golden chocobo I got pissed off and quit :P. Should have just went ahead and tried it :P.

evident by your Games Beaten list, you have much more patience than I.

lmfao, that depends on the game. My patience for Dark Souls, for example, is non-existent.

as I've gotten older and found my free time more limited and spread among other hobbies, I really find that if a game doesn't grab me hard within an hour, I'm out.

I remember getting the PC version back in the 90's and then getting stuck because the disk got scratched up and as a result the last thing that would happen is Bugenhagen would give his presentation, then it would go back to the party standing in his planetarium but I couldn't trigger anything.

That is what happened to me on my first go Popo. It was a known bug that was not fixed in the first few patches.

I wound up not finishing FFVII due to trying to find extra stuff with little information (I was looking at a small section in a Game Informer, suffice to say the chocobo breeding guide was not exhaustive :? ) and then heading off to college and not bringing my systems for the first year or so. Then my friend had taped the ending..soo..

Actually, FFVIII was much the same, I nearly took down the end boss/form, but lost...one of my roommates at the time really liked that one, so I'd seen the ending anyway.
FFXI's version of the story is more fun and I finished that.

While dropping a game after a bit isn't necessarily a bad idea, I've wound up completing - and liking - too many games that I didn't originally continue with to fully commit to the notion. RPGs especially.

Since I did wind up going back and finishing the Platinum for Bloodborne (didn't restore a save, just did a NG+ playthrough and saved effort on Chalice Dungeon items by doing so), I should narrow down something else to play >_> I've been dabbling with a lot of games recently, where I usually try to just stick with one. :?
