DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
Your symptoms give the impression that perhaps there may be some loose or faulty wiring in inside the box. While on the subject, I will soon be doin a video review of various VGA DC accessories
stay tuned.

Maybe post an Article with pics too? Much easier to analyze and reference back to.CD AGES wrote:Your symptoms give the impression that perhaps there may be some loose or faulty wiring in inside the box. well heres the pic. I have used this cable to hook up my netbook to my LCD. Works ok.
My netbook has a button to change the resolution. I've fiddled with it in the past.

I opted for the cord over the box, am I missing out on anything.
Also my primary reason for switching to VGA was to be able use my monitor instead of my TV.

I have the same orange VGA box. But the color weirdness you describe as already mentioned sounds like a dirty connection where the cable plugs in or maybe a broken solder joint on the VGA plug. If the monitor didn't support 640x480 you wouldn't get anything at all or a 'signal out of range' or something.

Also, make sure the cable is well connected both on the DC's side and the screen's side.
Push it in a few times and see if the colour onscreen changes...

oh. ok thanks. I found this guy when I was cleaning my room and decided to give it a try.
I think I have another monitor cable but it would make a bigger mess to try and find it.
Im a little sad that I couldn't really use it. but I dont think I paid over $5 bucks for the vga box. Must have gotten some time ago, before I got my hdtv.
I have a switch box that I'm gonna use with the tv.

It probably just needs the connector cleaned or possibly some solder touch up where the connector hits the board if it got jerked around at some point.

Or some plastic shaved off. Pretty sure I have/had that unit and those jacks are a chore to squeeze in/into.Hobie-wan wrote:It probably just needs the connector cleaned or possibly some solder touch up where the connector hits the board if it got jerked around at some point.
