My thoughts exactly. Everyone keeps saying "A new 2D Mario isn't enough, we need a 3D Mario." I prefer 2D Mario games.
When I say "A new 2D Mario isn't enough" it's because we've more recently had plenty of 2D Mario, we need a follow up to Mario Galaxy or Sunshine to show off the new Wii U hardware.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I think I could warm up to a really new 2D Mario, but I'm not excited for yet another NSMB. Nintendo has changed up style before with Yoshi's Island, and the Wii U could really push something with the style and fidelity we've seen recently with Rayman instead of continuing to utilize an aesthetic developed for the DS.

NSMB with the Wii U is $465 after tax. The same configuration with the Wii was $340 after tax. I don't think $125 is worth giving one player the ability to tap blocks on a touchscreen in a particular game mode.

I'll be waiting until Nintendo produces the full model in white, and at least one other must-have game is released.

can someone explain how the transfer option is supposed to work for games that are supposed to be played using the screen controller? I didn't see this demonstrated at E3 when i was there, and after reading an article on kotaku today I am more confused.

In other words, how can I transfer TV video of Pikmin 3 or the Wario game (or anything else that relies on the capabilities of the video controller) TO the video controller without losing some/all functionality?

The ability to transfer the main image to the GamePad is a feature that the developer can elect to take advantage of, not one that's universal to all software. It's probably a fair assumption that either GamePad heavy titles will employ an alternate control scheme for screen transfer, or they simply won't allow for it.

All I know is that I'll definitely be picking one up 6-months down the line, being a Nintendo collector and all. That's how I've purchased most recent Nintendo consoles and it's usually a pretty good time to get one.

Yeah, but I think that the launch titles are good enough to warrant a release purchase.

I might be tempted to check my local Wal-Marts this weekend about those preorders if they are still available.. But I won't lose any sleep if I miss them..

I suspect that, like support for two touchscreens, there will be few, if any, games that support screen only play at launch.

Pikmin 3's confirmed to be not coming until 2013.
