The Walking Dead tv series
Re: The Walking Dead tv series
I thought the biggest problem with this episode was that it banked too much on suspense created by the Governor vs Andrea conflict. The problem being that the majority of the viewers a) probably don't give a damn about what happens to Andrea and b) know that nothing serious is going to happen to the character before the finale (if ever).

Wowzers.
That was something.

Enjoyed that. But damn the season finale will have to be even more action packed than the mid-season finale.
Re: The Walking Dead tv series
Not sure if Carl even spoke this episode, but even if the finale is a stinker I'm more than happy with this season.
As soon as you start to see things from Merle's point of view... Npi when I say well executed.

Re: The Walking Dead tv series
Michonne had great presence in this episode, a real quiet dignity to her that I liked. Her rope decapitation was pretty bad ass. I think her and Merle probably had one scene too many though. Merle's death didn't really do anything for me. He was never a likable character and this was kind of a predictable outcome for him. If anything, his death felt a bit overdue. I was shocked by how soundly the governor whooped his ass though. The fingers getting bitten off was a bit much though.
Merle listening to Motorhead, awesome
I don't think this was a bad episode, but for some reason I didn't really love it. I think I'm just getting tired of waiting for the inevitable showdown with Woodbury, and it's not looking like it'll be anywhere near as exciting or memorable as the comic. I mean, there was a lot of holy shit moments during the Woodbury arc in the comic that really left an impression and we're not getting most of them on the show. Largely due to the fact that they've gone in such entirely different directions with a lot of the characters like Tyrese, Lori, Michonne, and Rick. They've taken very little from the comic book story arc in favor of something safer and more TV friendly, not that I can completely blame them for that. The comic is dark and brutal as shit sometimes, far eclipsing anything we've seen on either the show or the Telltale video games.

Merle couldn't have enough scenes.
We finally got a complex character whose judgment we question, but provides great tension and action. And they kill him off. Well, looks like we'll be back to watching boring people have boring discussions.

So we're not spoiling spoilers? Anyone dumb enough to come into this thread after a new episode they haven't yet watched deserve what they get?
I think Merle's death had more of an impact on me because Michael Rooker was just so f'n good to watch in this episode! and of course Daryl's reaction...
It sure was nice to see some real action after what felt like 3 weeks of building up, though.
Bring on the season finale!
To be fair Merle was softened up quite a bit by the boots of those Woodbury thugs.Gamerforlife wrote:Merle's death didn't really do anything for me. I'm going to laugh my ass of if the governor rolls in guns and rpgs blazing like in the preview only to find an empty prison. Although I guess that is unlikely since Andrea is still chained up and I don't think they would pull a Merle on her character.
Whats after the prison in the comics?
