Darn, I think I may be repeating myself.

haha, still not quite right.
Stupid page you're looking at with its wrong label. Nobody calls that one thing that.... except that page apparently.

Re: Question #36
Ahh screw it, Correct!Limewater wrote:Sawtooth, triangle, rectangle pulse width modulation , (white) noise /rush
I've never seen people call it rectangle or pulse width before. Always been Square Wave. Bleh.
Edit* Also, I thought I worded it to prevent an easy search, I guess not. I figured it was going to take people a while, that's why I put the UL hint in it. I was hoping to trap people like the Blades of Steel and have people trying to figure out something related to Cid in FF or something. Ah well.

square wave (with variable duty cycle), triangle wave, sawtooth wave, pseudo-random (but not white) noise,
Re: Name that Game Round 3 - THE ULTIMATE RETRO CHALLENGE!
Yeah, terminology between rectangular vs. square waves is pretty loose.
A square wave should have a fixed 50% duty cycle, while a rectangular wave does not have this limitation. However, I have never worked with anyone who drew any real distinction between square and rectangular waves.
I don't know which is the actual case with SID. It is described as pulse-width modulated, but that may just mean that the pulse width is tied directly to the frequency of the oscillator.
