Picked up Dragon Quest VIII for the 3ds at my local library and am.enjoyimh it thoroughly so far. The game has the option to speed up the combat animations and random battles are thrown out!

Voice acting so far is really good and fits the characters well. Having no real previous experience with the PS2 version, I can say that it is a joy to play.

Just finished getting the third party member at the abby! Woooo!

Third main mission done in Nioh. The gameplay mostly seems solid so far but the levels haven't been interesting and the third one was kinda boring. I also don't like the bosses because they seem to be really frustrating to do alone instead of being healthy challenge.

Im playing Chrono Trigger right now. Its a game ive wanted to play for a long time now, i just never found the time to actually buy it. (i try not to download classics whenever possible). Im around 9 or 10 hours in, and i feel it lives up to its hype 100 percent. Classy rpgs like this make me appriciate what it takes to set a mood or atmosphere with just text and old school sound to work with.

Go with the GBC version for DQ III. It is amazing.

Been goofing around with Castle of Tharoggad. The enemy graphics are, uh, interesting.

It's a neat little dungeon crawler. But a pain in the ass to play. Primarily because it's strictly mouse/joystick control, and since I don't own a Tandy mouse I have to use the stick. Imagine playing something like Eye of the Beholder with an Atari controller. The interface is ass as well. Pretty sure the entire game consists of one big maze, but I'll likely never finish it. Can't find any walkthroughs or maps online either.

Also, I fired up Mother last night. Thinking about doing the whole trilogy this year.

Bouncing between Shin Megami Tensei 1 for Super NES (it turns 25 this October), SMT4 for 3DS and Persona for PSP (on my Vita).

Sadly I had to start over SMT4 since when I transferred everything from my old 3DS to the 3DS XL my brother gave me, I didn't have an SD card for it and had to use the one I used for my old one (a microSD card in an adapter) and apparently I messed up and lost all my saves, including the one for Pokemon Picross and it won't give me back all the IAP I bought for it.

Also had to start over with Persona since with my PSP games I can't transfer my saves. This is due to the fact that my PSP has a dead battery and my charger was left behind in my brother's house and apparently all my stuff was stuffed into the shed, which got flooded when Hurricane Matthew hit. So if it (and all my physical DS and 3DS games) are in the shed, they're more than likely unusable. But then again, even if that wasn't the case, my progress on Persona was loaded on an 8GB Memory Stick that I lost ages ago (around late 2012/early 2013), along with all the save files on it.

Kickin' it in Ys: Memories of Celceta. It's good, but not as good as Ys Seven. Too many tacked-on systems. I prefer my Ys speedy, and have no real desire for the sort of crafting system they've bolted on here. Hopefully Ys VIII will eschew this approach.

Wait, was the blue blob or the red outline the deadly spider attacking you?

I think it's a spider and bat teaming up.

I don't even understand the graphics at all. It's like one of the developers let their kid draw the monsters.

I've been, sort of, dunce-ing about on occasion, over the last couple weeks, in Hikari no 4 Senshi (4 "Heroes" of Light). The first hour or so of the game is spent on a quest getting acquainted with the four "heroes," and the subsequent eight-ish hours have been a menagerie of the borderline comical ways the party gets split up. It's sort of ridiculous, and while I kind of like the game-play, the way the game is handling the characters in the party is really riding on my last nerve. One of the characters--who already has some serious self esteem issues--has been left, sleeping in the inn, by both of the male "heroes," on two separate occasions. The second time seems especially harsh, considering the circumstances surrounding her at the time, but the dudes just go, 'Yeah, no. I'm going it alone.'

I keep putting "heroes" in quotations because these are some of the most anti-hero "heroes" I've ever seen in video games. They have some of the most unattractive personalities imaginable, and they would appear very "human" if this were a different game. Maybe their horrible personalities becomes relevant to the story, somehow, but right now, I just find them annoying, and unlikable.
