Yup, I'm not about to knock on Sophie... she was a good "quirky moe special powers quiet girl" trope but done well. I dug most of the characters in Graces F.
Oh God, you're telling me the Meredy and Melody thing is a Japanese L/R situation gone completely bad?

Kind of? It seems to be a deliberate choice on the part of someone (be that the producer on the Japanese or American end, or the translator themselves, etc.) because her name in Japanese is literally "Merudi," /meh-roo-di/, which isn't Melody exactly, but it's really damn close. It's a fuck of a lot closer than Meredy (which I would pronounce like /meh-reh-di/ or /miir-di/ (pronounced like "beardy")). That's more of a personal translation choice than anything though.
Also, Sophie has SUCH good character devlopment, especially in the PS3 expansion they did (that's where the 'f' comes from in the title, being "future") to reveal what happens after the main game. I identified so much with her learning to become human; that game made me cry so much

Nah, I'm just saying we ended up with two rarish games on the same day.
I'm actually only missing a few RPGs on PSX: Chocobo Dungeon 2, the King's Field games, and Dragonseeds.

Why! Quiet, boy. Don't say such things, or you may rouse the sleeping Exhuminator, Lord of the King's Field!

I only own about 1/4th of the PSX RPG library. And that's okay. Y'all know I'm a 8 and 16-bit guy mostly anyway. Strangely enough I have managed to acquire a complete (North American) Saturn RPG library over these last few years though.
I'm in between games right now debating what to play next. Probably gonna head back to the PC Engine for some Legend of Heroes or maybe Dragon Knight II. Been really into the PCE lately, for whatever reason. Probably because it rules.

Got my bonus in recently, and I was thinking that it's time to have a small celebration by picking up a new SNES RPG for my collection. So...which one of the following should I go grab?
Dungeon Master
Paladin's Quest
Dragon View
Ultima VI
Ultima VII
Note: this isn't to play next, just to own. I have a bunch of RPGs left to play on the console.

Dragon View or Ultima VII. The rest are inexpensive enough for impulse purchases.

The absolute, unquestioned best of those is
Dragon View. I've said that before, and I'll say it again.

It's also the most expensive of those games.

Apparently the SNES version of
Ultima VII is terrible, so I'd probably skip that one. But I also know you're on a quest to finish all the SNES RPGs, so... I'm so, so sorry.

That's ok. From what I've read, the SNES release of Ultima VII is also significantly different from the original PC release, so it'll be worth exploring just to check out what all was changed.
