Find out next time on EYE OF THE BEHOLDER II: THE LEGEND OF DARKMOON.
Bravo!
Re: RPG Progress Report
My progress through Might and Magic II continues. I've now been to every castle and freed every imprisoned bishop, netting a ton of experience since I already got the triple crown in all colors. I had to cheese the black arena a bit; I ended up chugging skill potions before each fight to crank up my level enough that I could one shot the enemies. I'm now sitting at level 14 on all my characters. I need to find Sherman for King Peabody (quiet you!) in order to gain access to the Way Back Machine. Because time travel is important yo. I've also started finding gear with higher pluses, like +8 and +9. It seems I'll need to do the personal quests for all my party members as part of the end game sequence. Since those are going to be party member + robber + maybe a hireling (for two of them) I'm not going to worry about trying to get those yet. I've found a couple of dungeons while I was finding castles, so I think I'm going to explore those next. But first, I'm going to see if I can abuse the black bishop some for experience rewards. 50,000 gold for 200,000 exp per character is a nice exchange rate, especially since each character has 300,000 gold at the moment. It might require me to triple crown black each time; we'll see. I might be at a high enough level to be able to pull that off without buffing.

Still trucking through Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. When you only have so many battles you can do, it's much more difficult to attain a perfect balance of "you're useful enough to be in this fight without dying" and "you two need to be in this fight to become wifus." I'm on the part where you fight the legion of Kitsunes (fox people) though, and HOLY CRAP, their "walk through your dudes" ability is buuuLLLLLSHIT! (Even if that's not what got someone killed, but a lucky crit :/ )

Everything about the Kitsune fight is bullshit.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Another extremely productive evening. I've done the + quest for four of the six classes in my party. I needed to abuse skill potions for the archer quest, but the knight quest and cleric quests were doable with my characters at their regular levels. And the robber gets to go along for all of them for extra muscle. Now I have to take care of the sorcerer and paladin quests and I'll be ready to get that last triple crown and meet with the Queen.
It's interesting how the game forces you to only take people of the particular class or robbers (who have to participate in one to get a +) for these quests. It sometimes makes for a challenge in moving around, as you will probably lose your movement abilities like walking through forests and mountains when you're done to two or three people. It's a good thing the fifth town sells Teleport Orbs; there was no way I could get to the archer quest without either that or relearning skills (which would have been a pain to shuffle everything around.

Wholy agreed (especially after the horrible staircase of Faceless hell after that one), but I will say that I'm genuinely impressed at how many cool gimmicks they keep having to theme levels around. The one with the wind drafts that blow you and the opponent around was very cool (and somehow I actually managed to do that in one try! My dudes are just hella fatMrPopo wrote:Everything about the Kitsune fight is bullshit.

Re: RPG Progress Report
after nearly three hours I can say that I Am Setsuna is really good. It's compared a lot to Chrono Trigger - which I'm in the minority opinion on. But it reminds me a lot more of Grandia II in many ways. Which is a very good thing in my book.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Most of the CT comparisons come from the battle system. Multi-techs, ATB, positioning of enemies and allies being important for tech area, all the hallmarks of CT's battle system. The main wrinkles are the fact that your characters don't return to their start after a move (making the positioning far more dynamic) and the bonus effect on a timed hit with SP available.

Just about done replaying through base Dark Souls III on PC (just trying to wrap up NPC quests and stuff, otherwise only have the final boss), then I'll be starting on the DLC.
