Key, I'll still be playing Bonk. I've only played the Game Boy games in the past.

Anyway, my Summer starts tonight. I'm on the fence about one final tweak. I know Bloodrayne isn't a classic, but I'd give it 'cult classic' status anyway. So here's the thing, HLTB says it's ~7hrs - the same as Tomb Raider Legends. The difference is I've played multiple Tomb Raiders games, so while I know I will enjoy it, I think Bloodrayne might mix it up a bit. Plus, I've been wanting to play Bloodrayne for years, but Betrayal was the only one I ever... sunk my teeth into. (Sorry).

Noise, that pun makes you a bad person.

It was years ago when I played it, but I found Bloodrayne more frustrating with its level design than anything. It's not a long game, and you spend a lot of time biting people, but I didn't think it was that great. That said...I never felt the Tomb Raider games were that great either, so I suppose I'm no help here.

My copy of Bloodrayne came bundled as a bonus with the DVD. I love when they used to do that.

Heh, I should finish that novelization of Robot Monster I wrote last year and see if anybody would bundle it with a DVD of that.

Hopefully I'll finish it soon and then I'll share my cumulative thoughts. But so far... Meh...

You'll know when the time comes.

I guess no one read my Games Beaten entries about Bonk. I beat all three of the TG16 entries this year. I told you so.

I read them! (I beat Bonk weveral years ago, however, and I have no intention of playing its sequels.) I agree with you that it is a clunky - but straightforward and relatively easy - platformer. I don't remember it taking 2+ hours to beat, but I do remember feeling it was interminable when I played it (mostly because it was so boring). The bosses look great, however...

The experience of playing Bonk depends an awful lot on how you play. If you are really going for all the items and bonus and trying to go all collectathon, it can really drag out, but if you kinda tear straight forward through the level, it can be pretty exciting. That said, I really don't like that Bonk's momentum is so slow to get moving. He feels a little like trying to pilot a half-full bathtub.

I think I'm done with Bonk. Played some more this evening and ended up just shutting the console off. Boring level design with incredibly poor hit detection. I think I'll pass. Perhaps the worst "classic" retro platformer I've ever played after Sonic & Knuckles.
