That's holes not pins, so it is female, yes.

I don't see that in the cable listing. For a 5 foot cable you wouldn't have a signal degradation problem, so I dunno other than crack translation.

This may have been asked already but I have a old 15" LCD VGA monitor that I got from my Grandma, I'm not sure if it supports 640 x 480 as I don't have it near me (friend is borrowing it) but it is 4:3, could I expect a decent image even if it doesn't support 640 x 480?

There's no telling as it is hit or miss with LCDs, especially old ones. If it supports 640, that still isn't going to be its native resolution so it depends on the scaler in the monitor. You could get an ok picture, you could get a blurry mess, you could get some nasty pixel doubling. It is also possible that the scaler introduces lag that makes some games unplayable on it. You'll never know until you try.

maybe a boot disc can fix these games?

Trust me, as a someone who spent about $500 to get the "real Bangai-O experience" (converters, adapters, joysticks, twinsticks, controllers, boot-discs, cheat discs, ISO hacks), I've tried. The only way you're getting progressive-scan from that game is buying the sequel on XBox Live.

I wouldn't know if Bangai-O was on XBox Live; I think they're going to (or already have) an HD remake in the works.

As for what I bought? Four controller adapters (Two EMS, one Innovation, one Interact), two sets of twinsticks, a PS1 dual-shock controller, a PS1 dual analog controller, a PS2 controller, the cost of my existing N64 controller, DC-X, GameShark, some CDRs, GameShark Lite, and two copies of Utopia. A lot of this stuff is still lying around.

I really need to get a BST topic of my own up and running. As soon as all of my other projects calm down, including the one where I don't starve or freeze.

640 x 480 was an essential PC industry standard for years. If a VGA monitor does not support that, it'd be defective by design. Don't most PCs even today still boot into 640 x 480 for stuff like the BIOS screens and power on tests?
