Total Annihilation. All glory to the Core.
If you're only going to finish one RTS, it needs to be Starcraft.

Nah, play Total Annihilation and then Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War to cover Starcraft.

A Krogoth could easily take down a fleet of multiple teams of Battle Cruisers and Protoss Carriers.

I didn't beat it, but Total Annihilation is the bomb... to use now-outmoded vernacular. And even if I didn't beat it, I watched my brother play so much of it that I could probably effectively claim I did.

And I have the soundtrack in my vehicle. Good stuff there, good, good stuff.

I tried Total Annihilation way back in the day and thought it was boring.

So I guess that's an unpopular opinion around here. :?

Some RTS games I did enjoy from the same year TA released were Dark Reign: The Future of War and also Myth: The Fallen Lords.

I think Jeremy Soule says John Williams is his favorite composer, he definitely tapped into some Star Wars with Total Annihilation in some areas. Incredible stuff.

I loved both Starcraft and Total Annihilation back in the day.

Dark Reign was pretty fun, if not a little generic. Came with a sweet manual like most games of the time.

The hover tanks were so adorable.

Yes it did! I was really impressed with how in-depth and large that manual is. I've still got it in a box along with other epic PC manuals like Baldur's Gate II's insane one. Sometimes its fun to just pour over them for ol' time nostalgia's sake.

It is, but we'll give you Dark Reign and Myth, so no problemo.

I've got loads of battle damaged PC manuals because I used to shove them in my bookbag and take them to school with me and page through them when I was supposed to be learning about things less important than commanding hover tanks.
