I want to say that was not in the PSX version. But I'm not sure. I remember Shining Force having a similar thing like that too that got old... lol.

Still playing Lunar.

Kinda annoyed at how you don't really know how new equipment will affect your stats unless you go into your Status screen, look at the stats, go back, go into the Equip screen, change equipment, and then go back to the Status screen.

Come to think of it, as far as I can tell, there's no real way to know what ANY item does until you use it for the first time.

That kinda annoys me a little, but not enough to turn me away from the game or anything. It is kinda archaic though.

Does the PS1 remake have this problem?

(I was going to post this in the RPG progress report thread, and actually did for a bit, but then I remembered the unmarked spoiler "rule" and decided I'd rather not chance that.)
In the PSX version, it tells you what the items do.

As for equipping, in the PSX version, you have to kinda hover the items over certain characters to see if it fits with them/upgrades them. Pretty standard for its time, but I found it to be a pain juggling all the items since most of my characters usually had full inventory, so trying to check what equipment upgraded who was usually a process.

I've never liked Ben Kuchera much but he's being the target of a witch-hunt right now and it's pretty disgusting. The gist of it is that many think Polygon hiring him, a white cisgendered male, promotes a "boys club" culture and that they should have hired someone else instead. Very nasty and, as I said, I don't like the man myself.

EDIT: I mean I don't like the man as a writer, not as a person, as I don't know him.

Not only have I never played Portal, I've never seen it played.

As someone who didn't think I'd like it, you absolutely must play it.

My relationship to Portal consists primarily of people in college playing/singing the song at the end a million billion times and shouting "THE CAKE IS A LIE" any chance they got.

It kind of turned me off from the game for a while... maybe I will play it sometime this year?

Portal can be beaten in like 2-3 hours on your first run through, Steam has sold it for crazy cheap multiple times and even given it away.

Y'all've* got no excuse for not playing it.

*is that even a valid contraction?

Is Portal included with Portal 2?

I'd rather not buy the Orange Box as I already own the other two games. I'm fairly certain Portal would look awful (if the game would even run) on my laptop.

Unfortunately not.

If you're not opposed to digital games, it's on XBLA, but its probably just as cheap tog et the Orange Box.
