IDK, I don't use a screen protector. I'm still not sure what all the fuss is over. Is the problem just with the regular sized 3DSes and NOT with the XLs? Because I have an XL, and I don't have any problems. But after reading all this shit about the screens I'm EXTRA careful with mine now, although I don't put a cloth between the screens or anything.
I hope I am not jinxing myself, but I also haven't seen any scratches. I have an early model regular 3DS. There is not a single scratch on either screen. I don't use covers or anything. It's traveled in coat and pants pocket, as well as just loose in a suitcase or backpack.
It's an issue with the early normal sized 3DS...at least that's what Nintendo has lead me to believe. I don't think the 3DS XL has the issues but you really should put something between the screens because if your 3DS XL is no longer under warrenty you'll pay like 80 bucks for the screen replacement.
And you are jinxing yourself dude. Just put a cloth or something soft and not scratchy inbetween. Save yourself the hassle and money.
I wish I had an answer from someone who actually had my issue and used a screen protector...I mean 8 bucks or whatever is great, i'll pay it...if the things do protect my screen. I don't just want to get it, stick it on and figure out down the road that the damn thing isn't protecting my screen as well as I thought. Having to send my 3DS to Nintendo for repair was a pain in the ass.
I mean I picked a horrible time to do it (during the holidays) but the really horrible part was the stupid UPS driver just left the package out for everyone to see...i'm super glad that I got to it before it was stolen (we live on a busy street and have had things get taken before).
So I don't want to go through the hassle again..and yeah someone recommended them to you but...do they keep the system from scratching it's self? The reason it does this is because when you put even a tiny bit of pressure on the top, it presses the top screen to the bottom and starts rubbing on it. Mainly happens for those of us who oh idk use it as a portable device the way it was meant to be used...such as slipping it your pocket. You could always put it in a bag but you'd have to make sure the bag doesn't get pressed against anything. It's a hassle and one of the reasons I leave the 3DS at home...
