Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Mario Is Missing! came out on the PC. I had it. I completed it. I learned way too much

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I've never played the Hudson Mario, but I've read about it.
I guess "publish" is the wrong word. What Nintendo IP's have been released on PC? Was there ever a Donkey Kong for instance? It's just kind of funny to me I guess that Ninty is one of the biggest game-makers in the world, but little has appeared on PC. Quite opposite from Sega y'know?

I'm reminded that I think I still have "Mario's Early Years" (Fun with Letters, Fun with Numbers, and Preeschool Fun) which for some reason we had when my family first got a computer. I don't think I ever actually played them though.
But on the subject of "edutainment" games, you know which ones are good? Word Rescue and Math Rescue! Classic Apogee platformers with a readily-ignorable educational twist. And of course, I will always love Carmen Sandiego but that's mostly due to my love of the game show.

You should try them sometime - especially Super Mario Bros. Special. It's something.....noiseredux wrote:I've never played the Hudson Mario, but I've read about it.
HG101 has them available to download, along with the necessary PC-88 and Sharp X1 emulators.

Argh, Intellivision Lives! has the games "split" among the various versions - just like Taito Legends 2. Why do they do this!?
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The devs of Taito Legends 2 called it "porting issues", which sort of makes sense, seeing that RayStorm and G-Darius were games released on Playstation hardware in the arcade, therefore staying on the PS2 port.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Argh, Intellivision Lives! has the games "split" among the various versions - just like Taito Legends 2. I went to the Wikipedia entry for Intellvision Lives! and they are way wrong with what's on the Gamecube port. Except for maybe the AD&D games, some of the learning titles and a few in the unreleased category, the GC port has nearly all the games. Auto Racing is there, so is Royal Dealer, Thunder Castle, and a lot of the games that the entry says GC doesn't have. Triple Action also exists on the GC except that it was broken up into 3 separate games instead of just that one. It's not as bad as TL2 was.

I have the collection for the DS, GC, PS2, and Xbox. IMO, the inclusion of the AD&D games and the ability to use the touchscreen as a keypad (with overlays!) makes the DS version the best.ExedExes wrote:I went to the Wikipedia entry for Intellvision Lives! and they are way wrong with what's on the Gamecube port. I listened to the Streets of Rage soundtrack in dolby digital surround with the bass on 11, and it was incredible. I've never heard the music on anything other than television speakers, which is still great, but it does deserve to be heard on a proper stereo.
Really wish there was a port of Streets of Rage for the GBA.

Yesterday I found both the PS2 and Xbox versions and almost purchased both. Went with PS2 because it was a buck cheaper.
See, I figured all versions would have AD&D which is one of the main reasons I purchased it. But nope - just DS. So I'll still have to pick that up. Can't complain too much though, as I do own an actual AD&D Intellivision cart.
I had some great luck with compilations yesterday. In addition to the Intellivision comp, I also found Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1, Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, Activision Anthology, and Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection - all at the same store.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Compilations are my favorite. They are a great way to enjoy classic games without resorting to emulation, and I buy them whenever I can.
