Re: Amiibo!!
My order from Best Buy was just cancelled. I had all of Wave 4, spare exclusives, ordered and confirmed. A BB rep on reddit submitted SKUs before the actual product listings went up, and so you able to manually enter them in and order.

Re: Amiibo!!
So my daughter wanted Greninja, the only one she's asked for, so I hop on after 11pm CST and they're not up yet. I go to bed because I work at 7 am and the pre-orders are already sold out. I'm done and we're not buying any until Nintendo gets this crap sorted out. They're toys!!! Toys!!! And I'm getting myself worked up over a stupid toy.
I have a NIB Sonic and a NIB Mega Man if anyone missed out. Every figure I have been interested in has either been exclusive or limited and sold out in hours. I'm done.

Re: Amiibo!!
Greninja went up at like 3 or 4 EST. Maybe Greninja will go the way of Lucario and give us a few more narrow opportunities.

Seriously, I missed the boat on Ness and Jigglypuff.
I have the other 10 from the original Super Smash Brothers. Hopefully there's some additional supply that comes through, but wow. I didn't think Nintendo would lowball the supply after seeing how popular the product is.
Toktogul, if you're reading this, you're our only hope!

Re: Amiibo!!
Greninja came back in stock very briefly. It was dumped from my cart at the final checkout process.
I think I enjoy the hunting more than the gathering. Lol.

Re: Amiibo!!
So.... people have been talking and are a bit annoyed that Nintendo has made Amiibos unlock content in future games like Yoshi's Woolly World and Splatoon. I do not feel the same frustration and I will tell you why.
In Yoshi's Woolly World, using their Yoshi amiibo unlocks a second yoshi that you can use as a weapon and to reach hard to reach areas, essentially he is a moving egg. This isn't a second player, mind you, it is simply a mirror of your character. You move right... he moves right. Is this a must have mode of play for players? Absolutely not. It seems to be more akin to the relaxed mode they mentioned and seems to cater to the more casual crowd. Second of all, who wouldn't want to pay $13 for an absolutely adorable Yoshi amiibo, which may come boxed with the game in a special edition like Mario Party.
Let's talk about Splatoon. The Amiibos in Splatoon unlock new missions and outfits for your character. Here is where things get a bit tricky. I understand to a degree why people may initially be frustrated. Essentially, what you are buying is a physical figure for some DLC content. Are costumes really important? What if the missions are really simple and not worth it? People are upset that they have to shell out money to get all the splatoon content, but the door could swing both ways in that you are paying for the amiibos and not get enough content for the price.
If you are into the splatoon amiibos and want them, it is worth it regardless. I myself am definitely going to grab them, because the game itself seems exciting and interesting to me.
I just don't see all the fuss about the actual content you get with the amiibos. I view it right now as, "I want that figure and the things I get with it are just a cherry on top."

Re: Amiibo!!
It's basically DLC, yes, but on-disc DLC, which Capcom (and others) don't exactly get a lot of goodwill for either.BogusMeatFactory wrote: I just don't see all the fuss about the actual content you get with the amiibos. I see it more as a future thing. It may not seem like a big deal to go grab the figure now, unless of course it winds up being understocked and hard to find...but 5 years from now? 10, 15, etc? Nintendo hasn't exactly been double-dipping a lot of their games. Other companies, DLC may be annoying, but the chance of a Complete Edition in a few years, at a bargain price, is often fairly good.
Even if they slapped a sticker on the case or manual that did the same thing (which they could), it'd necessitate a complete copy of the game down the line.
It may not be a huge deal yet, but it's a pretty slippery slope I'd say.
