The first Jeepers is pretty good, the sequel is terrible.

Last night I watched TEEN WOLF and THE MONSTER SQUAD. Both are timeless classics in my eyes.

Anyone here playing Deadly Premonition on 360? I just started playing and the game is just bizarre. It feels like a cross between Lollipop Chainsaw and Silent Hill, with some hilariously bad graphics and wacky story. The controls are also pretty terrible. Also, the protagonist seems to suffer from schizophrenia, so I'm sure that will be interesting as the game continues...

This one is really almost more of a sci-fi/monster movie than it is typical slasher/horror fare. An eclectic mix of genres which, on the final balance, is pretty uneven. Henricksen is good enough in the lead role, but too much time was spent with a mostly forgettable cast of supporting teens. Still, i enjoyed it for what it is and the creature effects are pretty well done on the whole. A pleasant surprise.

The wife and I watched this one last night. You're right that the teens were rather annoying. It gave too much moral justification for their demise to really fear pumpkinhead. I enjoyed the effects and production value though and thought it was an overall fun show to watch.

I really love the 1980 cult classic Maniac, and I was cautiously optimistic about the new remake when I'd heard it was being made. It turns out this is a good one - a solid film for the "pro-remake' argument that both pays proper homage to the original and does some new and well-thought out things with the concept. This remake is most notable for being shot about 90% in POV. We rarely see Wood (mostly in mirrors), but he delivers a very strong performance that, while very different than Spinell's, is no less frightening. Some of the gore is quite memorable and well placed, there's some nice psychological stuff here to unnerve those who enjoy more cerebral horror, and though I don't think it surpasses the original, it holds its own and is well worth a look.

Plants vs Zombies was easy and boring, but has that PopCap addiction formula down pat. Device 6 is nice and creepy, and is probably the most interesting iOS game I've played from a design standpoint (even if some of the later puzzles were too obscure for my tastes).

Well this is actually good to hear!

...what? Wow. Really? That's kind of... amazing. Wow. I gotta see this.

Finished Amnesia: Dark Descent. It was interesting, though failed to scare me.

Yes, I did. I think my review score of Maniac is probably a bit lower than it should be, as I've much fonder memories of it in the time since than I apparently did immediately afterward. I still think that it had some problems, but what it did well it did REALLY WELL.

I love when that happens... like when you're not actually sure what you thought of a movie until a week later when you realize you're still thinking about it and you're like, "damn... I guess it was kind of awesome then!"

Anyway, thanks for the heads up on the POV thing in the remake. Previously I was feeling like 'I'll get around to seeing it someday, but now it sounds like something worth purposely seeking out.
