I nabbed The Amazing Spiderman vs Kingpin for Sega CD in an auction. No manual unfortunately, but it's great to own this one again. It's a solid Spiderman game I think, although playing it for the first time in ages I don't really remember the point of going to any point on the map other than the boss fights......

I've always been interested in trying that one. If you've played them, how would you compare it to Maximum Carnage or Separation Anxiety? Does it offer 2 player co-op? Always thought Carnage would have benefited greatly from that.

There's no patch of ground to walk up and down like Streets of Rage, Maximum Carnage, etc. it's just flat side-scrolling but there's verticality since the levels are often subway cars you can jump on top or walk through, construction sites, etc. You can web swing anywhere which is nice (web basically sticks to the top of your screen as opposed to having to have somewhere to attach it).dunpeal2064 wrote:I've always been interested in trying that one. I guess it's similar but not the same like Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety were. No co-op it's kind of story driven. There's an open map with a bunch of locations and you can pretty much go anywhere any time. The cut scenes are nostalgic gold. They're kinda cheesy but kinda good in a '90s way.
Overall I'd say it's around the same quality as Maximum Carnage just a bit different. Separation Anxiety is ok but I thought it was a crappier version of MC for the most part.

I always preferred Separation Anxiety for the two-player coop. I remember playing this with my cousin many years ago. Still lots of fun.

Man today at work all my buddy was talking about Genesis. Misha, vapor trail, Sol deace, and other great shmups. Then were talking about the great library on the system. MAN I FREAKING LOVE THE GENESIS!!!!
I'm looking into an RPG. Going to try to get into one during Xmas vacation. Anyone have any suggestions for a beginner. Thinking about crusader of centy.... Ohh wait I have kids to feed lol.

Yeah, Crusader of Centy is a bad choice. It plays like a vastly inferior version of Link to the Past and is additionally expensive as hell.
If you're looking for a "beginner's" action-RPG with a similar feel you're better off going with Beyond Oasis, Ys III, or Exile.

So I played the Genesis original growing up for the last 20 years (even think my mom payed $50 for it) and then got the CD version a couple of years ago. I did not really like the non-liner path of the CD version. The music sure kicked ass compared to the Genesis version though. I did beat the CD version but rush through it and do not remember other differences, I guess I need to go back again.Snatch1414 wrote:I nabbed The Amazing Spiderman vs Kingpin for Sega CD in an auction.
