Definitely not paying that outrageous price for a reissue that will NOT hold its value...what collector will realistically be interested in that thing when the original looks so much better?FerretGamer wrote:I read this on GAF, it seems that the restock of Metroid Prime Trilogy has arrived in stores. However, I found it interesting that the packaging is different than the original release (i.e. not a steelbook.)
It comes in a standard Wii case with a printed cover.
I'm glad I got my steelbook CIB way back from Gamestop (it was only $44.99 at the time).

Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
It's a shame that Gamestop had to do that. I mean I really want copies of Xenoblade (to play, mine's sealed, so much mind wrestling over opening it) and MPT (for backup, it's an amazing trilogy and I'd be so angry if something happened to my disc) but I'm not shelling out 90 bones.
Oh well.

I saw it that way displayed in a couple of stores too, I should have asked if the Steelbook is behind the counter with the game disc. Not that I would buy it, already own two from when they were cheaper at PlaynTrade and Gamestop. I also saw Xeonoblade Chronicles CIB including the extra ad Flyer and Club Nintendo paper. On the back underneath the used price sticker, there is the refurbish sticker, the R can be seen. The R stickers show the game has passed thru the Refurbish Center. A shame so many dummies traded it in and now the game is selling double the price!
THE UGLY
Concerning Metroid Trilogy, I doubt Gamestop would purposely downgrade the case at the Refurbish Center unless it was pretty scratched up. My bet is any games without the original case and or manuals were done by the customer with Gamestop not caring how they are traded in as long as at least the discs were there.
THE GOOD
Back to that Xeonoblade game. I actually bought this game with manual from the very same Gamestop location many months earlier at a cheaper price, at the time it did not have the Club Nintendo Coin redemption paper inside. The employee let me have the flyers from that Refurbished copy. Not sure if the Club Nintendo Code is still active, but now my copy with the exception of the preorder Art Book is CIB.

I still have a sealed copy of Xenoblade with the art book, and it is now likely that the game will be considered one of the rarest and most sought after on the console. Not sure how high prices will go, but I've happy I pre-ordered when I did. Pandora's Tower, on the other hand...

Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
I saw both xenoblade and Metroid trilogy at the gamestop near my work and I did ask an employee about his thoughts on this and he thinks that gamestop had a ton in the warehouse, waited till they saw that there going for 90.00 or so on ebay and said hell lets put these refurbs out and make triple the profit. I still wish I kept my Metroid prime trilogy a few years ago and now all that trading and buying is kicking myself in the ass but I'm not a collector and unless I get a copy for Christmas I don't want either. I own 20 or so games to hold me over till next year. I also own Metroid prime 3. Plus you can still get the steel cases for 90.00 or so on ebay.
Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
The game I wish I hadn't passed on was Xenoblade. I did so because I had imported the European version earlier, after it appeared the game would never make the jump. I honestly didn't expect the value to skyrocket like it has.
I do have MP Trilogy, though. Very happy about that purchase.

Not like it matters. Xenoblade gave us the kind of crappy non-localization European gamers have always put up with.Sarge wrote:The game I wish I hadn't passed on was Xenoblade. Heck our release is inferior in content, need homebrew to enable Italian or German.
Lum fan.

I don't know if this should be added to the list but saw a copy of pikmin 2 at walmart. Just thought I would check the prices on ebay and its going for 30.00 and up for copies. Wonder if this is going to get pricey and hard to find in the future
Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
This is me, i imported the PAL version, and then when i heard about the NA release at GameStop, i expected it be printed to all hell.Sarge wrote:The game I wish I hadn't passed on was Xenoblade. Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
This evening I purchased a complete collectors edition copy of MPT for $71 shipped, $12-$20 cheaper than the cheap reprinted copies GameStop is trying to pass as used copies. I am really happy to put money in someones pocket for a high quality copy rather than reward GameStop for being shady and pay even more for a dummied down version.
