Is it truly before it or is it like a sequel-prequel? What I mean by that is that it chronologically came before but it plays some fan service like a sequel does by allowing you to appreciate things you only could if you played the other first?Xeogred wrote:Funny, I'm watching some videos of Lufia 1-2 at the moment. Would it be weird to play Lufia 2 first? Since I hear that one is a prequel to Lufia 1.
But yeah Treasure of the Rudras and maybe Romancing SaGa 3 are other idea's. I think I definitely might check out Lufia 2 though.
What are you playing?

Re: What are you playing?
I really have no idea myself. Maybe someone else can answer that? It makes sense to play the first game, well first... although the second one looks a lot more appealing at the moment. And obviously I don't mind going back and playing old installments, like I just beat FFIII (NES), heh.Jmustang1968 wrote:Is it truly before it or is it like a sequel-prequel? I guess maybe Star Ocean is an idea too. Not very FF like, but I've never gotten that far in that one. Guess I'm just craving another good SNES RPG for now.

Re: What are you playing?
Another I have wanted to try is Emerald Dragon, and really give Bahamut Lagoon a go. I started a few times on Bahamut Lagoon years past to burn some time, but always forgot about it later. Seems like a good one.
If you want to step up to the PS1 You can always give the Tales of Phantasia a run. Or give a Suikoden another go. I recently replayed Suikoden 1.
Once I finally put down Tactics Ogre PSP (which I absolutely love and am a huge Ogre Series fan) I have to decide which RPG to tackle next. I am always tempted to start new ones, but in the past I would do this and not finish the last one, so I have a rule now not to start another RPG until the previous is finished. I have a ton of half played games on my shelves.
I have been thinking of a FF run similar to what you did, or knocking out another whole series like BoF (have only played 2 in the past), Finishing Suikoden by playing 4 and 5, Grandia series (another I have always wanted to play), the Lufias, Xenogears (another I have criminally only played briefly), or going back and playing Dragon Age and Fallout 3 after my HD died on me mid campaigns and lost my save files

Re: What are you playing?
Sounds like you need to finish some games.
I'm a big Suikoden fan myself, though I didn't like the gameplay of 3 too much and haven't touched 4. But 1, 2, and 5 are amazing.
Xenogears is incredible. Definitely finish that one! As is Breath of Fire IV, another one of my top favorites for sure.

Re: What are you playing?
Thats surprising. Suikoden 3 is one of my favorite PS2 RPGs, I really enjoyed it. I was disappointed in 4 with only 4 characters in battle at a time. That pissed me off so I never got it when it came out. I ended up picking them up (4 and 5) at a much later date, but haven't got around to trying them out.Xeogred wrote:Sounds like you need to finish some games.![]()

I have mainly been sticking to the handhelds recently for RPGs. Though I did beat the Mass Effects and got to the fun Part of XIII where you can free roam adventure, only to have my PS3 die on me. To hell if I am going to go through that 1st part of XIII again.
I recently knocked out DS Fire Emblem, FFTA1 and 2, FFIV, Luminous Arc.
I have been very very bad about beating games in the past, it is almost like if I finish it, I have cut off that RPG world, and all that grinding and powerleveling just amounts to boss death and then nothing.

Re: What are you playing?
Have you played Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis? (the GBA one), I think it's way better than the FFTA games. I might even put it above FFT, but I'm a bigger TO fan in general.

I played Tactics Ogre GBA and FFTA a lot, and I think I'd agree. TO is the better game.Xeogred wrote:Have you played Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis? (the GBA one), I think it's way better than the FFTA games. I might even put it above FFT, but I'm a bigger TO fan in general.

Re: What are you playing?
I would agree. I think TO KoL is better than FFTA but not better than FFT, and TO LUCT is better than FFT. I love to TO stories and gameplay. FFTA stories aren't that exciting.Xeogred wrote:Have you played Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis? (the GBA one), I think it's way better than the FFTA games. Re: What are you playing?
it's hard for me to put a finger on, but there's something that just makes TO a better experience. I just feel like it's more polished... things feel more natural and smooth. It's not like A WAY BETTER game to me, but it is better.Jmustang1968 wrote:I would agree. I think TO KoL is better than FFTA but not better than FFT, and TO LUCT is better than FFT. Re: What are you playing?
I like being able to use more than 5 characters per battle. And I think TO is balanced better. FFT you get OP special characters and they rule the field, makingyour other guys useless.noiseredux wrote:it's hard for me to put a finger on, but there's something that just makes TO a better experience.
