Just a glass of Bladnoch 10 year old. Thought I would treat myself to something quite rare (it wasn't when I bought it for £35!!)... Nothing really spectacular, it is a lowland malt after all, but very well placed flavours, very confident if a little uninspiring, lot of wood biting through for a 10 year old.

I'm not a Patriots fan, but for the little party I'm throwing today I'll be picking up some Boston Lager (c'mon 12pm, get here already) to with the sides and burgers.

I'm buying a chuck roast (as close to the chuck end as possible) and will be grinding the meat at home. I'm going to play it simple today and simply grill out the burgers that will only include a little Penzey's Chicago Steak Seasoning. I like to experiment from time to time with the burger recipe, and I do have some killer ones, but sometimes you just can't beat a grilled burger on a nice kaiser roll.

One burger that always sounds great on the menu, but always seems to disappoint is a "Texas Burger". Ya know, the one with sharp cheddar, bacon, fried onions and bbq sauce. I love all of these things separately, but the burger gets completely lost in all the flavors. I love a Cajun burger, inside out bacon&cheese burgers, mushroom and swiss burgers, etc., but something about the Texas style burger never tastes like a burger, if that makes any sense.

*37 C = 98.6 F*
I envy you. Winter still hasn't arrived where I am, so the temperature's been hovering in the upper 30s-50s. I want either winter or summer, not this wishy-washy stuff.

I would gladly swap with you, I've always been a winter person. I actually enjoy the cold for some fucked up reason.
