Hey man, a function local 2 player RTS on a console from the mid 90s? That's something you've got to respect even if you don't personally care for it.Gunstar Green wrote:There's an unpopular gaming opinion.ElkinFencer10 wrote:a fantastic port to the Nintendo 64.

I was just about to bring this up. I didn't play much of it, but my brother played the mess out of it. The soundtrack is burned into my head. I watched him play a ton, too. It's one of the all-time greats. I might also have the soundtrack on a USB drive in my vehicle...Ack wrote:The RTS peaked with Total Annihilation.

The best RTS I've ever finished was:

Though I own a lot of RTS games I've never played. It's a genre I sorely have neglected.

PLAY KING'S FIELD.

And that's the other game my brother played a ton of. Battlezone was absolutely amazing.

Command and Conquer: Generals was another really good one IMO, but my all-time favorite RTS is definitely Rise of Nations. I still play that on Steam.

I have actually hear great, great things about Battlezone (1998). It was in several "best games ever" decklists too so I must really be missing something hahaExhuminator wrote:The best RTS I've ever finished was:

BattleZone '98 was a really neat game. Probably the last game to use the MechWarrior 2 engine. I'll add another glowing recommendation.Sarge wrote:And that's the other game my brother played a ton of. Battlezone was absolutely amazing.
Eh, to each his own. It's pretty much unplayable to me. A nice try but some things just aren't meant for consoles.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Hey man, a function local 2 player RTS on a console from the mid 90s? That's something you've got to respect even if you don't personally care for it.

True Story: I have never played an RTS.

Admittedly though, you tend to focus more on consoles, right? Console RTS tended to be lackluster ports of PC RTS.prfsnl_gmr wrote:True Story: I have never played an RTS.

That's true. I love turn-based strategy games, but I am not sure that my love of them would translate to a love for RTS games. (I have yet to enjoy any tower defense game, which, from what I have read, is about as close as we get to quality RTS games on consoles).Ack wrote:Admittedly though, you tend to focus more on consoles, right?
