I thought maybe some of y'all have checked these out by now. Anyone try out the ports of the PS1 Final Fantasy games (7-9)? Are they worth picking up? I don't need them but the Switch has a larger screen than my rg351p.

They're excellent. They're solid HD ports (VIII was remastered somewhat, the others look closer to the originals, iirc) and have cheats like infinite limit breaks, heal all characters, double speed etc, so you can skip through grinding if you want to.

This week, we see the release of a new Zelda game, and quite possibly, the last Switch Lite model to release in the console's life cycle: The Switch Lite Hyrule Edition.

Here's the Nintendo Shop's link.

I do like this color scheme quite a bit. The biggest thing are the accent black colored buttons. I don't know if the main gold colored body has some very light pearl effect like the Pokemon BDSP limited edition. It looks like it but I can't tell from the images. I have mine pre-ordered. It'll be my third Switch Lite (overall as well -- I don't have a "proper" Switch) next to the aforementioned BDSP version and the standard grey one.

Anyone getting this one?

I am not usually a framerate snob, but the framerate in Echoes of Wisdom is pretty damn atrocious. I am usually not someone who finds slightly erratic framerates too annoying (unless they are unplayably bad), so t's odd that I have seen people defending it, stating that they don't notice it, when I find it quite distracting.

The game is pretty good though. I have done two dungeons so far and I am enjoying how it kind of takes the 2D overhead blueprint and kind of adds small things from the latest 3D games. I still find it weird not always having access to a sword and other weapons for combat and relying on echoes, but it is what it is.

I wish they would hurry up and announce the Switch 2 already though! Hopefully it will be backwards compatible and will play old Switch games with better performance.

Come on, Nintendo. People are beyond ready for it and getting fed up of waiting.

When it comes to framerates, what matters to me is that at any given moment I am getting a steady framerate. If the game needs to slash the number of frames during moments that's fine, as long as I don't experience frame delays that feel like the game is pausing.

I’m with you on that one. I saw the Digital Foundry video. I was fine with the dips. I’ve dealt with worse performing games.

Growing up on NES games that frequently had slowdown, flickering, and cartridges that randomly wouldn't play until you blew into them I find it amusing when people get so infuriated when a modern game has some performance issues. Not saying that any of you would get so worked up over stuff like that, but a lot of modern gamers do. Even during the PS1 era we had to deal with a lot of stuff. I think it's easier for some of us older gamers to not be so bothered by this stuff.

I do find blurriness in PSVR games really annoying though, but that's because it kills some of that VR immersion.

I understand that it's important to have standards, and we should expect games to run well, but if I really want to play something a few performance issues aren't going to be a deal breaker for me
