There was a somewhat recent announcement that they'd broken one million sales for Fez...so...I'd assume it was profitable.

To be frank, even Gandhi would go insane after receiving so many insane Twitter comments.

I don't think most people realize how much abuse the average public person like game designers or journalists get. At all. I follow some of them on Twitter and it's just mind-numbing. How many death threats have you gotten in your whole life? These people get them DAILY.

There's also this pretension than the general game public should act as a moral arbiter. Yeah, Phil Fish is kind of a dick, sure, but the internet seems to have this obligation to make him look presentable, feminist and clean which is very patronising.

EDIT: Also, the Twitter feed being shown is in response to glorified youtuber being a dick to him. Pay evil unto evil isn't nice but understandable.


Concerning Fez: I think Fez's biggest mistake is that most of the time spent in the game is spent going from one place to another which thanks to the level of polish isn't awful but isn't interesting either. I think it's a very similar game to Myst except the puzzles in Myst weren't ten minutes away form each other.

And yet, the majority of them don't act like he does.

Fish has always been antagonistic. The way he acts when people react to the things he says is pretty telling though. I don't think he quite understands that being antagonistic tends to, you know, antagonize people.

It's not like he's the only one to ever get backlash for having controversial opinions, lots of public figures deal with that all the time. They just manage to conduct themselves with a level of professionalism that Fish seems to think is beneath him.
