I added Final Fantasy I-VI Collection & Luigi's Mansion for the Nintendo Switch this afternoon!

I got some late Christmas presents from my friend and his brother. I was not expecting either of them, so both of them came as a giant shock to me. I really wanted to own the Final Fantasy I-VI Collection as a huge Final Fantasy fan. However, that is one large game added to my Backlog, so it will probably sit unplayed for quite a while. And Luigi's Mansion 3 just looks fun. I watched a stream of that and I enjoyed the original, so this will look like a blast. I do have add Luigi's Mansion 2, which came out earlier this year, but I will do that in the new year.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is great. I think it is easily the best in the franchise. 2 is the worst by far imo. The first game is really unique and interesting though. It plays almost like a child-friendly survival horror game. It's much spookier than the later games, which are more "fun" and comedic.

December has both Christmas and my birthday so it's always a big month for new games for me. Shining Force CD was my big purchase for the month. The first copy I bought was a fake, but luckily I found another copy for a decent price a while after. Pokemon Black 2 I stumbled across for a cheaper than usual price at a pawn shop, so I picked it up. Majin, Eternal Sonata and Metaphor were birthday presents from my wife, whilst Advance Wars, Sonic, Ys, Tekken and Sand Land were gifts from my wife's and my own parents and siblings. The final 4 games - Dragon Quest, Paper Mario, Stanley Parable and Mario & Luigi - were Christmas gifts.

At some point in the next few days I'll probably do a wrap up looking at what consoles I got the most games for and some other stats.

Have you ever had trouble finding a copy of an older CD/DVD game that worked? I'm on my third copy of Final Fantasy X. The copies keep having moments where they take me to the PS2 screen that shows up when the console can't read the disc.

Not to be THAT person, but do you absolutely know that it's the discs and not the console? I think that was an issue I had ages ago (back in the mid '00s) back when I went to play my copy of Crash Bandicoot 2 in my PS2 but it wouldn't work until I put it in my old PS1. Of course, that was the better part of two decades ago ( ), so I might be misremembering.

Maybe next year I'll put a bit more focus on that one!
