I think it's on par with the gamecube/wii, yes. It can do a lot of stuff the gamecube couldn't though.

I guess you can think of it like GBA compared to the SNES or something.

I read the extra circle pad add on has been confirmed.

"We can confirm that Nintendo plans to release the Circle Pad attachment, but Nintendo's regional subsidiaries will make further announcements about its availability at a later date."

You speak Japanese. How's about summing up what they say for us?

Essentially they announced tons of new titles. Monster Hunter 3G, Monster Hunter 4, showed video of tons of stuff. Kid Icarus comes out in January. Eshop will get a total revamp, and double in size. A Misty Pink 3DS will come out as the 3DS has more males than females, unlike the Wii and DS which is even and more females, respectively. No announcement of add ons or new revisions. Just titles.

They showed Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Metal Gear Solid 3D, and many other Japanese core titles. They briefly mentioned Skyward Sword at the beginning stating that it was going well, and Miyamoto hoped that the swordplay would seem natural and feel like muscle memory.

Note I do not speak Japanese, I read IGN's live blog.

Pretty much summed it up. They didn't really show much for new stuff. Nothing huge at least. They never even mentioned the 2nd slide pad attachmemt.

The Hatsune Miku Project Mirai game looks cool imo. First time I've heard about that one.

They mentioned some new additions to the Surechigai Mii Hiroba, and also that GBA Zelda 4 Swords game would be a free DSiware download, but we already knew about this.

Overall this conference was a big failure. If you missed it, don't worry. You didn't really miss anything at all. I really wanted to hear about next year's 3DS model but they didn't say anything at all. (>_<)

I see this as a good thing. As a launch day owner I see the 3DS weakness as its lack of titles. To me no new revision is necessary, and I would be pissed if they did so. More titles is good, thats the solution. To me this press conference shows me that Nintendo gets the problem and is about to fix it.

I'm glad Mario Kart 7 has global netplay. I'll be able to play with my friends on the USA version. 8 player online races will be really fun.

Next year is too soon for a revision. No revision is going to sell the system until it has a solid library. They may or may not be developing one, but until the library is more appealing they might as well keep working to make it better until there's a point in releasing one.
