It's a great series, enjoy it! R2 and R3 each improve on the first in many ways.
And it might seem difficult because health does not regenerate, which is a big reason why it is one of the best FPS series this generation (R1 and R3 use health packs, only R2 regenerates). Regenerating health is such a horrible mechanic

I like a health bar. It reminds me that... you know... getting shot is generally a bad thing!

Yes, bring back health packs.

Agreed. I prefer FPS games that use a health bar. That is one thing I like about Resistance over Killzone

Better yet,
permanent player damage!

Well I'm about 5 hours into Fallout 3 ... and I don't know. Obsidian did something differently in New Vegas that I just can't completely pinpoint, but it blows this game away and compared to Skyrim, it blows it away in terms of writing/dialogue, no competition.
Still a fan of Skyrim but Fallout 3 is just leaving my scratching my head. I won't say I "hate" it anymore, but it's really feeling like I'm just wasting time and should go back to playing more Skyrim instead, since the gameplay and world is so much better.

I liked Fallout 3 and Morrowind as opposed to New Vegas and Skyrim.
IDKY?

They have that. I believe it's called "war". I don't think it's on Live or PSN yet.

I'm still currently playing through Killzone 2, and one thing I started to notice the other day is that the difficulty actually ramps up quite a bit as you progress. I know... what novel idea in a video game right? But seriously, with most FPS games I've played... usually you just set the difficulty and it seems like everything stays the same throughout most of the game with maybe the few odd difficult boss battles or something. But yeah, I noticed as you progress... there are more situations where you are stuck fighting against a larger number of Helghast troops, more RPG's, more thrown grenades, and the AI seems to actually get more relentless and run after you more often.
The first few levels may have seemed like a typical run of the mill shooter to me. But the later levels are really blowing me away (sometimes literally with those damn grenades).
My only gripe with the game beyond the obvious lack of a health bar, is that the level design isn't nearly as varied as the first Killzone on PS2. So the game does get kind of bland after awhile in that respect, much like the first Halo did on Xbox.
But Killzone 2 is the real deal. It certainly lives up to the hype

Actually I think Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has a system like that. You get shot in the leg and no more sprinting for the rest of the mission. I don't know about the second game though. Didn't see any vids on that. I also didn't play the first one so I went off of video reviews and stuff.
