3rd party support these days is actually read as "Multiplatform release".

Why would Nintendo make that their focus? The PC/Xbox/Playstation market already cannibalizes itself with every AAA release. What would Nintendo gain by jumping back into that pool?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

A share of the wealth? A more viable platform to purchase for people who like to play Mario and COD and Madden all on the same console?

Also, RE: The Gamecube as a failure. Nintendo has said in the past not beating those numbers constitutes a failure. Iwata, in 2006, said:

"I do not intend to declare how many Wii we will be selling today, but Wii will be a failure if it cannot sell far more than GameCube did. In fact, we shouldn't continue this business if our only target is to outsell GameCube. Naturally, we are making efforts so that Wii will show a far greater result than GameCube."

Third party support wasn't bad on the Gamecube... it was far better than the N64's. And the Wii U's.

Metal Gear Solid
TimeSplitters
Beyond Good and Evil
Resident Evil
Prince of Persia
Super Monkey Ball
Rogue Leader
Hitman
Soul Calibur
Eternal Darkness
Burnout

Need I go on?

Sure it existed, but it was a perception and was lacking relative to its competitors. I remembering being glad I had a PS2 as opposed to GC when the releases were really drying up for the GC.

Also 3rd party support dried up fast after the first 2-2.5 years, not to mention we didn't get many big name released (GTA springs to mind) that every other console did.

yeah I was a gamecube only game at the time, and I kind of regretted it at the time since I bought it expecting more great Nintendo-Rare platformers

Any suggestions for Wii U eShop games that earn Club Nintendo Coins? I already picked up Shovel Knight, so looking for other suggestions...
