Morning Glory: I doubt anyone on this board will see or have seen this film, and you aren't missing much. Rachel McAdams is the producer of a crappy morning show and she has to turn it around. It's kind of presented as a romantic comedy, but I think that's just a side effect of the "chick flick ghetto" or something. It has the ridiculousness you'd expect from that kind of film. The real highlight, in my opinion, is to see Harrison Ford play a ridiculously hammy grumpy old guy. It's not worth watching the whole film just to see, but he's pretty funny.

Black Swan: Oscar Bait with the subtlety of a bullet to the head.

OK, I'm using somewhat inflammatory language, but given the subject matter of the film, I'm not surprised at all that it got five academy award nominations. The academy seriously eats this stuff up. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal was. I'm not a Natalie Portman fan, but she really did carry the entire film, so I guess I can kind of see why people talked about her so much. But overall I just didn't think it was that great a film. I had a hard time keeping my attention.

That's been sitting in my PS 3 for a few days now, been meaning to watch it. Some jackass already spoiled part of the story for me though. I should clarify that it wasn't anyone on this board

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Series) - So I watched all three of these films, based on the recommendation of my girlfriend. I enjoyed all three quite a bit, though I have to admit that I noticed a few plot holes in the last film. That said, I figure the books probably explain the sections that left me with questions...which means I suppose I should read them. Of the three, I enjoyed the first the most (it's much more stand-alone than the second and third), but everything wraps up nicely in the end.

Q: The Winged Serpent - From the guy that made The Stuff, this movie included Richard Roundtree, Dave Carradine, and Michael Moriarty. This is the type of B film of legend. An Aztec god flies around New York, pulling random folks off building tops and eating them. Plus, the crappy American Godzilla film ripped off the ending.

The Fearless Vampire Killers - This movie's funny, but also creepy in that it was directed by and stars Roman Polanski and stars his wife-to be, Sharon Tate...who was later murdered by the Manson family. Shame too, as she was gorgeous. Perhaps he never would have ended up with an underaged girl if Tate had lived. Anyway, the film focuses on a pair of bumbling vampire hunters in Romania who accidentally end up bringing about the end of the world, as vampirism spreads from them to the rest of the world. Hilarity ensues. Really, it's worth watching.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - I should admit that I've never seen the second or third of these movies. They've become a strange series, with some odd twists and turns based on things that I have no real understanding of...I feel that I wandered into a world I know very little about and am expected to accept quite a bit. Still, the action was enjoyable, and the plot unusual but entertaining. The CG was a bit overdone, but I suppose I should expect that with these kinds of films.

The first Pirates movie was just all about fun, but they really tried very hard to come up with a TON of story elements for the rest of the original trilogy, for better or for worse. I enjoyed it, but felt that the second and third movies featured a bit too much story for the movie medium to have and at times they seemed to sink under the weight of this heavily plotted story, especially the second one

The second Pirates movie wasn't that great, but it set up a TON of story foundations for the third one, which I thought was pretty good, if a bit long and convoluted. It tied up every loose end, was fun and very epic. However, I don't think the third one can be enjoyed without seeing the second one though as its already rather convoluted story becomes confusing and nearly impossible to understand. That's really all the second movie is. Setup. It served a purposed, but wasn't all that great of a movie otherwise

I didn't think it was a bad movie. I guess I just found it to be very slow. I enjoyed the second half of the movie a lot more than the first. And yes, I don't think it was subtle at all, but it was still a whole lot more subtle than after-school-special-turned-best-picture-winner Crash from a few years ago. That movie really was bad!

Yesterday I watched Hook again. It was on TV and I was just wasting my time surfing the internets so I decided that I could do both at the same time.

And I say, why, why, why? It's just so sad to see Spielberg's great shots trying to fix the crappy plot and forced characters of the film. It's a pure waste, there was potentia here.

I mean, it had a lot of ideas but no execution whatsoever. I mean, half of the scenes add nothing to the film! It's simply a waste.
