Man, Mishaela kicked my butt last night in Shining Force.

I am at the last battle in Chapter 6, Battle 21 and I am battling Mishaela in her lair trying to get the sword of light.

She is very mean! She has a huge diamond shape spell, she recovers 15 damage each turn, she can only be hit in one direction and she is incredibly hard to hit.

I'm about Level 16. I haven't promoted any of my troops as I was told to wait until Level 20. However, I haven't upgraded my weapons in a while because they haven't gotten the needed class changes. So, I only have one person doing good damage while everybody else is doing 1-3.

Either I'm going to level significantly, which I could do easily in the level or I'm going to force my characters to go through some class changes.

I did nothing but grind last night and this has been the hardest level I have tried.

So far I've rescued Yukiko from the castle. Kanji just appeared on the TV so I imagine the next dungeon will open to me soon.

I plan to get started on game O this weekend too - it's also an RPG - Opoona for Wii. It should be unique.
Rescuing Yukiko is like the 4th or 3rd hardest boss in the game, so congratz :D
That fight took me foreeeeeeever, at least back when I played it on PS2. Not sure if 'Golden' makes the curve for that fight any more reasonable.

I never played it on PS2, but it was pretty tough in Golden.

I found it to be really easy honestly.

She was weak to ice, which I had 2 characters that could use - my main guy and Chie. My main guy also had the party healing spell to heal if things got troublesome. My only fire weak character was Chie who was equipped with a ring that gives her fire dodging ability.

I basically just threw out ice spells any time the boss hadn't put up her ice resistance and pounded on the boss. Guard whenever she's preparing for the group fire attack, heal when necessary. Yosuke just attacked unless extra healing was needed, when he'd throw out a Dia spell to help out.

When she summoned her 'prince' I just used normal attacks and physical special moves on him until he ran off.

Being that this is an RPG Namco had anything to do with, I'm using a guide fairly religiously. If you hated how much the Tales games had fairly out of the way or hard to find side-quests which cover the course of the entire game, you will probably equally not like Baten Kaitos'. This is espcially considering how much this game likes side-quests that rely on collecting an item, and then waiting in real time for that item to change into another item (like up to an hour, hour and a half). All of that aside, that stuff is always just for little side-quests, and I've yet to see one that's mattered significantly. Though if you're trying to do something like, have had every card, then you're really gonna need a guide and/or plan to play through the game more than once.

Still, side-quest nonsense aside, I'm really enjoying the game. The story is actually pretty neat with no voice acting ruining it. Reminds me of a FFX or Mother 3-esque plot-line crossed with Skys of Arcadia, even though SoA had a fairly standard "pilgrimage for the crystals" plot arc as well. In my opinion, perhaps by virtue of how much I like the battle system, I'm enjoying this significantly more than I enjoyed SoA.
Baten Kaitos is great. Thankfully, most of the sidequest stuff isn't necessary. I certainly didn't get obsessed with a full deck. And disabling the voices immediately helps the story, because critical scenes aren't being ruined by that terrible voice acting. I actually hate that the sequel simplified the battle system a bit. I really liked how it works in BK.

Nuuuuuuuuuuu. You've premeturely killed my dreams of an even more developed battle system in the sequel ;A;

Granted I'd already bought the sequel before playing the original on the grounds it was a GameCube exclusive game I didn't have yet. Need moar Gamecoob game :I

Baldur's Gate: Just when I think I'm starting to like the game, I get stuck in the Gnoll Fortress, and it feels like I don't have a way out. I would be really upset if I had to back up to Nashkal, and abandon all the loot I picked up on the way. (Essentially, I'm unwilling to.) I got into the Gnoll Fortress, and rescued Minsc's sorceress friend, but now I can't get out. For one thing, she makes for a seventh party member, and takes Minsc with her if I drop her. I was hoping to be able to slingshot the pair of them, or Imoen, to the entrance for easy party management, but even getting there normally seems like an improbability with these giant packs of re-spawning gnolls blocking the return route. Why are they there suddenly? Who does this?

What do?

Black Rock Shooter
Been kind of stuck on Stage Four's boss for a while... I can get him to less than half health all right, but then he starts going super fast and sometimes I can't target him with skills which makes him really brutal for me to deal with. I got super close to killing him once or twice, but I end up messing up with timing my dodge or not healing quick enough :| Hopefully I can take him without doing a bunch of extra things?

Muramasa Rebirth
Had to play something other than Black Rock Shooter for a bit, so this is what I chose ha. Really quick and fun so far! The combat hasn't been too difficult to understand so I'm thankful for that, as I'm not exactly that great with action games ha... Only on Act 4 though so it could still easily get much more difficult later.

Assuming you don't crank up the difficulty settings Muramasa is actually pretty easy throughout. Great game too.

Well, I found a way through that problem...

I went to turn on the game to do some more grinding until the game froze on me. It would not turn back on, so I removed the game from the Genesis and popped it in a few times. Finally, the game started working...

...and my save had been deleted...

My game had been freezing and not working properly recently, but I never though it'd get this bad. I ordered another copy and I'm going to try this again. Maybe I will do it better this time...

Today has been a pretty awful day.
