Re: RPG Progress Report
I've started up a fresh Dark Souls save, this time as a warrior with an emphasis on Dex/Strength. It's going pretty well so far. Really digging the game, got up to the second bonfire in Anor Londo, about to climb up past those bastard archers. Once I do it'll be as far as I ever got with my dumpy knight. I feel much more confident this time. I still die a lot but that's kind of the point. I still wish the game was a bit clearer with how some of its mechanics work, like magic use and covenants, but whatever. I get the reasoning behind it, otherwise you'd be able to build some ridiculous Skyrim style Master of all Trades monster to tear through the game.

You're doing pretty good. Anor Londo is the major turning point and when the difficulty kind of spikes, but it can be easier from that point on after that level if your build is good, you'll just have some tough bosses ahead. But if you can clear out Anor Londo, the rest of the journey should definitely be doable! Re: RPG Progress Report
Started Baten Kaitos today. Was a little afraid the disc was broked because it gave me a disc error about a half an hour in, but a little wipe down and everything was good
I'm actually enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. The card game mechanic is actually not hard to figure out at all, and far more intuitive than one might suspect at first. The protagonist is also not what I was expecting, so now that I've set the voice acting firmly to 'off', I'm ready to go ahead to more

Bah, forum hiccup ate my post. Been playing Bravely Second, just hit the biggest story moment in the game that I can't talk about without spoilers. Nice iteration over the first game, though I'm sad I can't do Drain Sword Rage shenanigans like in the original.

Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut (360)
I've got a decent amount of hours in this. Maybe 17ish? (I don't know how many right now, because the derpshit developers didn't bother to make the save games keep track of that.) Glancing at a table of contents in a walkthrough, I appear to be 70% of the way through the game now. I've got mixed feelings about this action-RPG. If I'd never played (and beaten) Deus Ex or Invisible War before Human Revolution, I'd probably be more impressed with it. That's not to say Human Revolution is bad, but it is wholly derivative with little in the way of fresh ideas. HR doesn't beat out the original DE whatsoever, but HR is about on par with IW, just in different ways. I'm kinda getting burnt out on HR just because it's such a one trick pony experience, but I'll push through and beat it I guess.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I think my least favorite aspect of PSO is the whole Mag thing. The inclusion of "pets" in RPGs that need to be fed and maintained is a huge pet peeve (haha) of mine.
I'm nearing the end of Episode 1. Started off some quest last night where Sonic(?!) joined in. It was pretty tedious and I was exhausted so I shut the game off. Will attempt again later. I'm around level 52 or so and feel like a massive tank. Quests I found difficult on DC are painfully simple this time around.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I have one quest left and then the final boss. I'm at Level 33 and I feel like I'm barely surviving. I'll try a quest, die, gain a level, try the quest again, get a bit farther, die again and then repeat.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I think my least favorite aspect of PSO is the whole Mag thing. I'm making progress as well, but it's slow.

Re: RPG Progress Report
You're about the same level I was when I finished the game on DC. You can do it!
Make sure you bring scape dolls to the final boss...

Re: RPG Progress Report
Beneath Apple Manor | 1978 | Apple II

I spent an hour messing around with this today. Ran it on an emulator with the instruction manual behind as reference (hence screenshot). On one hand, I'm really surprised at how deep this game is for its time. On the other hand, the 1978 version kind of sucks because of how slow it is. I mean just putting in a search command can take many seconds before you get a response. I think I'm going to swap over to the 1982 special edition version of the game, as it is actually compiled and runs way faster. Even the game's author says he prefers that version over the original, simply due to its speed. I did at least manage to successfully clear out three floors in the 1978 version and live to tell about it. Never mind, I figured out how to put AppleWin into turbo mode by overclocking its virtual mhz. I gots muh speed now.

Those colors remind me of the Apple II computer.
My daughter and I have been playing Dark Chambers today, which is one of those second gen dungeon crawling proto-action-RPGs. Pretty fun!
