I respect that. I wouldn't be willing to emulate it, that's for sure.

PDS is one that should not be missed. It is really a crime there aren't enough copies out there to go around.

Hear, hear. That's one of the few games that I will say is absolutely worth it to emulate because it is so rare and so expensive, but it's SUCH a good game that everyone really needs to play. I got mine because I got lucky and found a good eBay lot with all three Saturn Panzer Dragoon games in mint condition for $400 shipped a couple years back and happened to have the extra cash (you make a lot of tip money delivering pizza to a pot-infested college town in the middle of a REALLY bad winter). I'd never be able to afford it under normal circumstances. Heck, I have to save up just to pay my damn car insurance...

The most annoying thing about games like Panzer Dragoon Saga is the lack of ports. And it's actually a legitimately good game, not just a "collector's item."

As irritating as, say, Neo Geo AES prices are there are plenty of alternatives. You can get the MVS or CD versions instead. Or the ports. Or the compilations that contain emulated versions. Hell, I heard some of this shit is even on Steam these days.

But with Panzer Dragon Saga (or Lucienne's Quest or EVO or Harvest Moon or Shining the Holy Ark and a handful of others I can't afford) the only options are to 1) suck it up and bankrupt yourself or 2) import, which requires at least some knowledge of Japanese or 3) emulate, which debatably results in an inferior experience.

As for whether PDS is "worth the price" it is indeed a great game. Probably my favorite Saturn game overall, and possibly the best 5th gen JRPG as well.

For the average gamer, I don't think PDS is worth the purchase price, but if you're a big fan of JRPGs or a big fan of the Saturn, I think it is, steep a price though it may be.

With PDS, I say just look out for Auctions on Ebay and try your luck. I managed to pick it up on Ebay (although it was about 6/7 years ago) for £80 (complete, but without the instructions), which is less than the price of two new current gen games at RRP. It seems to have a fixed 'buy it now' price of about £150-200 here, but I'm sure auctions often go for less.

For me, like others, I figured that there was no other legitimate way to play the game and that if it was going to be one of my favourite Saturn games (which it is), then it would be worth the steep price.

You all could be cool like me and own Panzer dragoon saga... but no longer have a saturn.

That's okay. I have Lucienne's Quest and no 3DO.

Or you could have found it at a yard sale roughly 7 years ago, and still not have played it.

Sounds like you should sell it then.
