What about vga to component? Anybody tried that?

I've found cables for that here and there about the internet, but I hear conflicting reports about whether or not it actually works for the DC.

VGA to HDMI box - $35.00 at Monoprice. If your TV only has DVI-D simply slap an HDMI to DVI adapter on it and Voila, DC on any HDTV.

Is the small little light supposed to light up on it? If so then that might be part of the issue as it hasn't turned on once.

Make sure the VGA box plugs firmly into your DC. I have the exact same brand and it tends to require a secure connection on both the DC and VGA end.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Just wanted to reply back that I got the video working, turns out the spot I had my DC in there was another cable pressing down on the VGA connector which seems to have been causing the issue. So the video is now perfect, naturally a new issue showed up though in the form of no audio from it.

I hooked up a standard 3.5MM whatever they're called cable, same that I use to hook my MP3 player up to my cars stereo but can't get any audio, out of curiosity I hooked my MP3 player up to it and it worked perfectly. Is there maybe some setting on the DC I might have missed or something else? I have the TV set to PC audio instead of the normal HDMI so that shouldn't be the issue.

Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

Its not the Dreamcast setting
Where do you have the audio cable attached at the TV? There should be a mini audio input with the same "earbud" connector. Also are both ends stereo with three contact points on the plug?

I have the cable plugged in to the slot labeled PC/HDMI 1 audio. Both ends are identical and I compared them to the one being sold on the Racketboy store and they match that one so I assume that it's the right one. Thanks again for the assistance in this.

Does the VGA adapter work well with all LCD monitors? Does this work better on old CRT monitors despite the VGA input?

It totally depends on the LCD monitor. Some cannot handle 640x480 and will only do 800x600 and up so it wouldn't work on those. Since the LCD is going to have a native resolution of 1024x768 at the very least, it will be scaled by the monitor itself. Some monitors are absolute garbage at scaling non native resolutions. Some will make a fuzzy mess, some will just double pixels, and others will create lag. Unfortunately it is pretty much something you just have to try out.

THIS.

@ retrosportsgamerThere is also the Dreamcast Lightgun to consider. It works beautiful with a VGA monitor, but only if it is a CRT VGA computer monitor. House of the Dead in beautiful VGA with a lightgun!

I didn't mean to make it sound like all LCDs will look like crap at 640x480 or not work. You could test by trying out a PC with a game set to 640x480.

Thanks - i've got an old CRT monitor that is 19" . Takes up a ton of space though. I'm trying to figure out how to swing that + the WEGA + the flat screen for current gen HDMI.
