I think Gankutsuou is mostly well done. Could do without the mecha battles that suddenly appear closer to the end. It's funny how good it looks compared to more recent GONZO series considering it is 7 years old. Definitely aging well, IMO.

This is a key thing too, Gonzo's productions usually aren't too great all around... but yeah I personally liked Gankutsuou. That said it felt a lot like Death Note with how hilariously over the top the drama got sometimes, but I enjoyed it for that myself.

I'm just watching some Detective Conan right now. I like it quite a bit. After Deathnote and Evangelion, some lightheartedness is certainly welcome.

Other then a few boobtacular moments, there's nothing nasty in it.

Man, that would explain so much. The whole reason I was never able to get into FMP was that the highschool comedy aspect felt way too over-the-top compared to the more serious parts of the story. I can handle one mode or the other, but switching between the two like that killed my suspension of disbelief. It sucks, 'cause I really wanted to like that one.

You gotta admit though man, when a series has a 16 year old girl running a secret army and some undercover agent going into high school... should you take the show THAT seriously?

I raise you ... Irresponsible Captain Tylor! Probably my favorite comedy. Heh.

Anyways Opa, I mentioned Lagann since it's from the same studio and kind has that weird wacky artstyle as well. Personally I didn't like FLCL that much, but I love Lagann. It's really over the top mecha about piercing the heavens with your drill.

There aren't many series I like that centered around comedy. I don't mind comedy, but none of my favorites really have that as the main focus. I'm not sure what my favorite comedy is. Hmm.
