Scream 4 7/10
This wasnt great, but still a solid enough movie. It was way better than 3, but thats not hard to do.
I still hated damn near all the teenage characters though, and too many damn blondes. I had trouble telling them apart.
A couple things though.
If im a survivor of three different sets of serial killers, I'm not going anywhere without being strapped. Also if you narrowly escape the killer and you know he is stalking you afterwards, why aren't you packing then?
But its a slasher and you have to look past those things to let the movie happen.
What was the last movie you've seen?

It's Kind of a Funny Story: Not bad. Zak Galafinakis was far from Hangover funny, but I like seeing him in a somewhat more serious role. It was entertaining.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Evil Dead - the very first in the series. I was skimming Netflix instant to see if there were any other movies on it that I've wanted to see and I was pleasantly surprised to find this one. I had watched Army of Darkness before and loved that so I wanted to see the original the spurred the series. It was good! Probably not the best - and without any of the great one-liners or comedy of Army of Darkness - but still a fun blood-bath. The attention to the special effects and costumes in it are really great and it has a genuine Grindhousey feel. I was hoping for Bruce Campbell to be his usual bad-ass self - and he isn't quite there in the original.
I enjoyed it - but not quite as much as Army of Darkness (which to be fair is almost another genre entirely). I'm hoping to watch the other installments in the series.

The second now is almost a redo of the first, but they've really found their stride. All 3 movies are good, but the 1st is definitely the weaker one.Sideroller wrote:Evil Dead

Ip Man - I really like martial arts movies, but this one blew me away with just how brutal it was. I realize it's a somewhat fictionalized account of Master Ip Man's life before and during the Sino-Japanese War, but Donnie Yen shines as the character. I should also add I was extremely pleased to see Sammo Hung's name appear for the choreography. Unfortunately the second one is a home rental on Netflix, so I'm going to have to wait a while before I watch it(as per a personal rule I keep a queue at all times of 100 films and don't move them up, so it's currently at #100). But really, any fan of Chinese Kung Fu films should do themselves a favor and see this movie.

I watched it after seeing Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness and thought it was horrible. Just isn't a movie that has aged well and I didn't have the benefit of seeing it when it originally came outHobie-wan wrote:The second now is almost a redo of the first, but they've really found their stride. Evil Dead 2 is the best one I think, but Army of Darkness has some truly classic Bruce Campbell moments. Bubba Hotep is very much worth watching too for more Campbell comedy/horror. A lot of people don't know about that one

But in slahers you have to accept that people will be dumb, or else most of the movies would be over in 20 min.

That was the part I was trying to remember. God, my friends and I were *this* close to yelling at the screen. We were certainly whispering loudly.Mendoza wrote: Yes the woman in the car was one of the worst.

I keep reading about the Ip Man films on various blogs. Will have to watch the sequel as soon as possible, I rather enjoy this kind of flick.Ack wrote:Ip Man - I really like martial arts movies, but this one blew me away with just how brutal it was.
