I guess I just think it was an interesting experiment, but I wasn't happy with the results. And I'm sure it's more fun with a walkthrough - but still tedious, no? I mean, leveling everything up? That and, it gets tiresome using walkthroughs for RPG's. Sometimes I wanna be able to be happy just playing on my own y'know?
I am planning to go on to III, though I'm now thinking the DS remake as it's easily half the price of the PSP remake.

PSP remake is Japan only too, I believe.
The DS game has been given a complete graphical overall. It's in 3D unlike the PSP FFI/II, which have that "enhanced port" kinda look.
FFIII is a great game. Tough on the DS, but the Famicom original is ball-busting.

yeah PSP is JPN-only, though it has English option. But it's $40-$50 used as opposed to the DS game being easily found for under $20.

Re: noiseredux vs.
Oh, snap. I missed the berating of FF II. While I wouldn't disagree that it's an acquired taste, and really not one of the better games in the series, I find II to be a really charming game on the Famicom. Usually I hate Famicom/NES RPGs in their original form, but FF II was the rare exception where I actually preferred the original. The attribute boosting system, while interesting in theory, is complete garbage in its implementation, I agree. I've actually never played past roughly the halfway point in any version, either. At times I find it very interesting, and fun to pick up. I haven't really felt that way about it in quite a number of years now, though.
FF III is fantastic; especially the remake. I don't think it's really all that difficult aside from one particular boss battle, if you don't know what the strategy is, and the final dungeon/boss(es). (They're some of the trolliest trolls, ever.) I think you'd probably enjoy the PSP version more, though. DS version isn't bad, but from what I've seen of the PSP version, that's certainly the one to play. Also, there's this whole ordeal of sending messages to other friends with the game in order to unlock a special class (and maybe the extra dungeon, I can't remember) in the DS version, which I believe may be impossible now, and I don't think it's necessary in the PSP version. Also, they added the original Famicom soundtrack to it alongside the orchestrated version, which can be switched on the fly in-game. It's also available on the Ouya, btw.

That sums it up for me.

My main thing is that the PSP version is $40-$50 while the DS version is like $20 or under.

Stay away from the buggy GBA port of IV if possible. Is it really that bad from what I hear? What would be the best way to play IV if you didn't want to do that or the SNES American "Easytype" version?
