Anyone try windows 7 yet?
Re: Anyone try windows 7 yet?
So I got too envious of XP's game performance already and went back to it. All my stuff runs great again. Of course, the wireless 360 controller is once again refusing to sync. It's just flat out not compatible with XP, even after a clean format. Microsoft needs to be sued for this shit. So this fucking controller is worthless to me again. Honestly, does anyone want it for their 360?

I have yet to see any reason to upgrade beyond XP... Sure it's prettier but at what cost? I foresee myself using XP for quite a while (especially seeing how I got a free legit key from school).

My wired and wireless 360 controllers worked fine under xp. Just had to download the driver.Mozgus wrote:So I got too envious of XP's game performance already and went back to it. I made sure to download the beta before they stopped offering it, but I haven't installed it yet. I think tomorrow I'm going to put it on a spare hard drive on my new build.
Re: Anyone try windows 7 yet?
Listen man. I installed the driver off the CD, as well as off microsoft's site. I installed before plugging it in, as well as after. The shit does not work. Want to be helpful? The wired controller has always worked fine. Its the wireless one that never syncs up. It just flashes the 4 lights at me forever. Yes, I hit the sync buttons on both devices.

I'm using my Wireless 360 controller with the crossfire wireless gaming adaptor no problem. I even used the xbox live headset for voice chat when playing Left 4 Dead last night because I've misplaced my PC microphone.
Maybe your adaptor is broken?
BTW I'm using XP 64bit.

Then share your driver. I find it funny that microsoft has removed the driver entirely from their own site I don't think they even support this piece of shit. It got horrible reviews because of all the people who have the same problem as me, and MS just abandoned it.Niode wrote:I'm using my Wireless 360 controller with the crossfire wireless gaming adaptor no problem. Re: Anyone try windows 7 yet?
ive been having some success with it so far. a few bugs here and there, but nothing major. this is a much more solid beta release than i have seen before. most things released for vista work just find in 7, like my nvidia, creative drivers.

Re: Anyone try windows 7 yet?
A friend showed my 7 on his laptop yesterday.
Seemed pretty nice. Very Vista-like in terms of UI (other than the new taskbar) but without the annoyances and slightly better performance. But we already knew that.
He used to have Vista and said 7 has been much better for him.
Didn't seem quite as snappy as XP though.
I might eventually upgrade to 7, but it might be a while.
Not sure it will be quite as convincing as upgrading from 2K to XP was.
