This is about as tame as any "console war" internet argument can be.

Wow. You guys sound like you're going to assault anyone who enjoys Wii games. I love my Wii. My library consists of Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Strikers, Smash Brothers Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, Zack & Wiki, Wii Sports, Wii Play, WarioWare, Monkey Ball, and Mario Kart. I've also got a couple of WiiWare exclusives.
Limited Want List:
Nights Okami Galaxy Wars Ghost Squad WarioLand: Shake It Metal Slug Anthology Mushroom Men Super Paper Mario
Some people whine about Wii controls. Mario Strikers would not be nearly as fun without the control scheme, whereas single player Super Monkey Ball has a downright irritating control scheme. The concept of controls messing up an otherwise good game is not new. I didn't like the Metroid Prime series on the GameCube as well on the GameCube because of the controls. Metroid Prime 3 is probably my favorite single player game for the Wii because of the controls.
Sure, there is shovelware. Try and name a successful console that doesn't have it. Yes, there are fewer "hardcore gamer" games than I had hoped for at this point. But my want list is still full, I imagine it will stay that way for quite some time. There are also good games.
Casual gaming is not a sin. I love retro "hardcore" games, but bejeweled is a good puzzle game, too. Just because you don't like a type of game doesn't mean it's not relevant to someone else. If they like the shovelware, then let them play the shovelware. They can pay for R & D for the next console. What's the big deal? Being offended that more people are saying they enjoy video games seems a bit ridiculous. Some people just don't realize there is anything better out there, and some of the people just don't like anything but shovelware. That's okay. We'll still have games for the rest of us.
I was as the eye doctor yesterday and the girls at the front desk were talking about the Wii
At work, they keep giving away Wiis as part of company contests and whenever there is an event, there is usually a Wii set up for people to play. It's like the Wii is the only console that exists now. I don't hear ANYONE talk about the 360 or PS 3 around my area. Not lately anyway.

Complaints? Really? How come I'm not hearing about this?
Unless I skimmed a bit too much, I don't know if I would consider this elitism -- It seems like a bit of venting if nothing else.
The Wii is a fine console, it's just getting a reputation because of the platform's focus. However, most of the games everyone is griping about are just like all the licenced stuff on just about any other platform. It just so happens that the Wii has received enough mainstream buzz that people that haven't bought a console -- or at least in a long time have been picking up console games.
In reality, we should just do our best to recommend quality games to Wii owners without speaking down to them. I do this a bit at work -- while I don't hear anybody picking up licensed games myself, I still casually mention some good games that people might like or their kids might enjoy.
Like I said, House of the Dead Collection and Ghost Squad. I also liked Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. It's not as good as the main storyline titles, and it's a bit...weird...if you're trying to follow the whole bloody RE mythos, but as far as the shooters in the series, it's easily better than the Gun Survivors.
And I have personal reasons to hate CounterStrike, namely because I was an avid TFC fan when they were in competition. And then Sept. 11, and everybody starts wanting to kill terrorists, and suddenly the TFC servers were pretty much dead. Makes me wanna smack CS players who talk about it. They all think I'm some kinda creepy old man, sitting in my rocking chair, screaming at kids that walk past my lawn. "Damn kids, go play some good games!" Little hooligan punks...

uh...what? That is total bullshit. Sega would have a console that actually works! Not a CRAP-BOX 360 with ALL the hardware issues it has. That statement is totally blasphemous!

Its not as good as dreamcast, but it certainly does have the most in common with it, as did xbox.

And definitely more than anything from Sony or Nintendo. Although, I picked up the Gamecube because at the time it had the most unique/quirky games -- much like the Dreamcast. I guess you could almost say that about the Wii as well.

That's the only positive thing I've read in this topic. Yes I hate the wii also and currently have one which I never ever play until monster hunter 3 comes out. Come on guys theses ignorant people urgently need our help to guide them.
