1600 points cards are on sale this upcoming Sunday a Target for $15, which would put Braid at $11.25 instead. That's what I plan to do.

By the way, anyone know if the game looks ok in SD? Is your character too tiny?

just played and beat braid today. The game is fun and the puzzles are challenging at times, but all together the game is WAY too short. I was done in about 3 hours. Game looks great however and the music is drat good as well, story is somewhat intriguing and has an interesting twist, but still, far too short. I hope it will get dlc some time in the future because it has all the necessary parts of a classic, just not the length.

As for the mario stuff, all homages, though one part actually kinda relates to the story.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

It's looking like that 1800 point price was wrong, but 1600 appears to be a sure thing. The Australian xbox.com section has the game listed at 1600.

If Braid is 1200, then CC will certainly be at least 1200. I agree 1600 is even more likely.

Does the constant stopping and movement of time ever get annoying?

I broke down and purchased it, and it's pretty good. You can basically rewind time at any time like Prince of Persia:Sands of Time, and you'll have to use this in different ways to solve some puzzles. It's only annoying when you mess up a puzzle and have to rewind time to undo your screw ups. There is one world though where time rewinds independent of your character which can get really confusing and yes, annoying. You get used to it though. One of the most impressive things to do in this game is to rewind time and watch the last five minutes of gameplay go in reverse at high speed. It's just like rewinding a movie and it's very cool.

The whole point of the game seems to be solving puzzles to collect pieces of a jigsaw and then putting the pieces together for each level to form a picture

The music is excellent and doesn't sound like what you'd expect from a cutesy puzzle platform game. It's very relaxing and well composed and one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a video game. The game looks great for the most part. The environments are gorgeous and have that cool watercolor look, but the character sprites are not very impressive. They are pretty small too, but this didn't pose any gameplay problems and I'm playing on a standard tv. Everything OTHER than the characters has a very artsy, beautiful look to it. This game doesn't skimp on presentation

The puzzles are quite clever and require you to get creative and think outside the box. I still have not solved them all yet. A cool feature is how every world presents a unique time based power for you to manipulate, which keeps the puzzle solving fresh. There's some very tricking platforming too. The game has a very old school vibe gameplaywise. It you didn't have the ability to rewind time, I could see a game like this being frustrating. It's easy to mess up puzzles and platforming harkens back to 8-bit levels of difficulty, but like Prince of Persia:Sands of Time, being able to undo mistakes reduces frustration. You really can't fail at this game, you just keep trying until you get it right.

The story is interesting, but also a bit confusing. I haven't beaten it yet, so I don't know where it's going. Without spoiling anything, there seems to be themes of revisiting the past and undoing mistakes and it seems to fit given the rewind time gameplay feature.

The homages to Mario are BLATANT. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's surprising how not subtle it is. The game basically references the original Super Mario Bros. as well as Super Mario Bros. 3

A pretty cool game overall, though it does look like it'll be a short ride given that there are only achievements for six worlds. Depending on how good you are at puzzle solving though, it could take a while to finish the game, but it's entirely possivle for someone who has a knack for this finishing the game in just two or three hours(as some people apparently have).

I hope Castle Crashers, with its even higher price offers a bit more longevity than this. I expect longer games if I'm going to be paying more money

I haven't finished it yet, but I'd give it an 8, a nine if it was longer

I haven't finished it yet either, but I know it is fairly short. I agree it could be longer, but Braid is of such high quality...that justifies the price to me. No other recent title comes to my mind that - so soon after playing it, I was sure it is one of my all-time favorites.

I don't doubt Castle Crashers will be of similar high quality, but Castle Crashers is more straightforward 'gaming'. I guess I appreciate all the artistic decisions that make up Braid.

Ditto, and I'm willing to support it. I had to go out of town this weekend so I've only played a bit of Braid, but I've fully beaten the first two worlds. Great stuff so far. I love the forehead-slaping "why didn't I see that earlier" feeling that puzzle games can give you.

It's more than just support from me. Braid exemplifies what I love most about gaming. It's one of those titles that really struck a chord with me. It becomes more than just a 'game' - a test of reflexes, etc. Not that this means it is superior to other games because of that fact, nor does it mean that if you don't care for more than just a 'game' that you're incorrect in your gaming choices, nor does it mean that all games should strive to be 'like' these kinds of titles(I love shmups but most would never even try to incorporate what I'm talking about. I suppose Ikaruga comes closest). It's just what I prefer. Shadow of the Colossus is probably my favorite game for this reason, and Braid is pretty high on my list, but I enjoy my share of pure gaming goodness as well(Robotron, Geometry Wars, Pacman CE, Raiden DX...). So I initally supported Braid because I'm a 2D fan, but it became much more.
