I'll third that sentiment. FFXIII gets a lot of guff, but it still beats quite a few of the games in the series that are more beloved, at least in my book.

I'm not a Metal Gear fan at all and I had no issue jumping into Rising without feeling lost.

Same here. Amazing game as well. It's pretty self-contained with only references to past games but nothing you would feel lost on. (Since watched all the Metal Gear Scandlon stuff to be caught up on the MG universe)

Metal Gear Rising is literally 101% more Vanquish 2 than Metal Gear Solid [X] haha.
(even has some literal Vanquish references).

I don't blame you though. Plus Metal Gear Solid is one of the best series ever so yeah, play them all. Don't play Twin Snakes though...

Twin Snakes is awesome. As someone who played the original back in the day as well, I really don't understand the 'hate' for it.
