Not sure how I feel with Nicholas Meyer on board. Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country are great, but I'm not sure Meyer's militaristic tone is something I want in a Star Trek series.

I'm still feeling positive about it though. Not taking part in the Abramsverse is enough to sell me.

There it is the first teaser trailer for the show, and it definitely doesn't show much of anything at all.

Saw that this morning. CG planets, a Star Fleet insignia, and some text. Looks like something I could make on my laptop.

That's exactly what I thought! I don't know if this means that they are just keeping a lid on all the details about the show, or they genuinely don't have anything to show besides the fact that they are doing another show.

Is it going to have a subtitle, or is this going to be like every fucking reboot where they damn long-time fans to confusing and obnoxious attempts to clarify what they're talking about?

Also, yeah, they need to show some actual....anything, really. Even indie games made by a one-person-developer has more meat in their first teasers than this shit.

I have a creeping suspicion that this will be as disappointing as Enterprise was...

Elkin, I'm sure it's just Star Trek (I don't actually know) but you know I'm right.

Enterprise was not disappointing. That show for season 1 and 4 what phenomenal. Season 2 and 3 dragged badly though with that whole overly drawn out plot with the attack on Earth, it sucked more than less. Shame that UPN sucked so hard they couldn't be cool and give it a consistent slot, writers, and promotion power as it could have lasted but they basically murdered it moving it all over the place.

The original sense of exploration, discovery of techs other shows of the past (being future) took advantage of as if it were nothing, learning from failure and death/success. It was a real exploration show.

Yeah I like the first two season of Enterprise, when they introduce the Xindi is when the series got bogged down. Honestly I'd say its objectively less bad than Voyager, and I have plenty of nostalgia for that incarnation of Trek.

And yeah I bet it's going to be called "Star Trek" because you're right Elkin, and that's how you reboot a series.

I changed the name of the thread to reflect the recent trend on the forums. Let this now be a catch-all for thoughts and questions on the various shows, movies, games and whatnot.

So netflix and cbs international have announced that the new trek series will be streamed worldwide on netflix within 24 hrs of its US premiere. Except in the US and Canada...

CBS really want to grow the domestic market for their own digital streaming service. I don't need to tell anyone how excited I got when I read the headlines only to see it wasnt gonna be so easy for me.

On another note, with Star Trek Beyond due out this friday, Paramount has already announced a fourth movie in the reboot franchise. Thought it was supposed to be a trilogy but eh.
