It's not. At least up to Chapter 23. I also think this is the one we're all talking about playing. I may or may not join in, but it would give me an excuse to finish off that playthrough.Exhuminator wrote:If my free gaming time remains steady, I'll give the first officially released GBA Fire Emblem a try soon. Lucina and Robin both speak English too. I imagine Corrin does too.PartridgeSenpai wrote:I've just always loved that because of that game, Ike is the only Fire Emblem character in Smash Bros who speaks English. Yup, that's the one we're talking about, and it really isn't a barrel of assrape. Until you do Hector Hard ModeSarge wrote:It's not. At least up to Chapter 23. It's always seemed to me that the handheld Fire Emblem games are harder than the console games (at least those with North American releases), but it isn't to terribly inductive of anal destruction.

Radiant Dawn is harder than the US handheld releases.

Really? I thought that was the easiest of the US releases (excluding Awakening without permadeath, of course)....MrPopo wrote:Radiant Dawn is harder than the US handheld releases.

Did you have someone play the Dawn Brigade chapters for you or something?

I think Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword was designed with the "Hard" difficulty on mind and then tweaked for the default setting. On default settings the resources you get are out of whack with the rest of the series: Enemies give so much experience than killing an archer is often enough to gain a level and you quickly get 20K gold for free, which makes weapon conservation pointless. It's really obvious something's wrong and it made the game a lot less fun for me and I'm not exactly an expert.
So I would almost recommend getting a save and starting directly on Hard. I wish I would have done that, actually.

No, I just don't remember having an unusual amount of trouble with the game. Maybe my memory is just blocking out that part? Idk. I just know I finished the two console games thinking they were way easier than the two GBA games.MrPopo wrote:o_OElkinFencer10 wrote:Really? So I started Hoshigami: Ruining the Blue Earth the other day, thought it wasn't fun, and wanted to play a fun mobile-strategy game. As a result, I finally started Fire Emblem Awakening the other day. Super fun! I thought it was a little too anime when I first started it, but that vibe sorta goes away as you go through the game. Playing through on hard mode (the middle difficulty of 3) is like the perfect difficulty so far. It feels like the satisfying challenge of Binding Blade without all of the bullshit.
I also finally started Path of Radiance at home, and that's wayyy easier, even on the middle difficulty, even if that difficulty is just 'Normal.' To the extent where it's really throwing me off XP. I just keep expecting the game to be like "PSYCHE! ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD!" Pretty fun though. Cavalry moving after they attack is OP as heeeell. Not to mention 3 slots for just usable items and 4 slots for weapons is also really weird to get used to because of how good it is.
