I'm all for Jamestown, but it isn't yet on PS4 so it is computer-only

also...

-Platypus is not on PSN any longer
-Deathsmiles and Espgaluda have iOS ports...any diff than what's going on with DU2?

a few other things I want to double check on from your list, but those are off the top of my head.

on a related note, there's some scoring diff I seem to recall between some of these ports that we'd basically just need to make it MAME-only to level the field...

Week 1 - STEAM/PC week:
Jamestown (STEAM / PC / MAC / PS4) - ok, though it breaks up shit into levels right?
Danmaku Unlimited 2 (STEAM / Windows / iOS) - YES!
Platypus (STEAM / PC / PSP / PSN / XBLA) - this game sucks.

Week 2 - 5th Generation week:
Fantastic Parodius - (Super Famicom / Saturn / PS1 / Arcade / MAME) - cool.
Battle Garegga - (Saturn / Arcade / MAME) - cool.
Sol Divide - (Saturn / PS1 / MAME) - cool.

Week 3 - 2003 week:
EspGaLuda - (MAME / PS2 / Arcade) - awesome.
Ketsui - (360 / PS3 / Arcade / MAME) - meh.
Psyvariar 2 - (PS2 / DC / oXbox / MAME / Arcade) - no opinion.

Week 4 - 360 cheapie week:
Otomedius Excellent (360 / MAME) - sure.
Deathsmiles (360 / MAME) - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
Akai Katana (360 / MAME) - definitely.

Hmm... these choices are all easily doable for me, minus the 1st week. I have 2 out of 3 for week 2, and all 3 choices for weeks 3 and 4.

@MJ So how does voting work? Are you counting or just gauging general feel from responses like DSH and Noise's above?

Never heard of any of the PC ones, so open to all. I like all the other ones too, Psyvariar 2 I never really understood the whole spinning around mechanic, but willing to give it another go. Would love an excuse to get into Deathsmiles for once, but should hopefully have my tate bartop by around week 2-3 so would prefer tate games, but no biggie.

Do you have a Steam acct, Donnie? The games are pretty cheap once you have it installed.

Keep feedback coming and i'll post polls with the 3 options tomorrow. I'll remove options that there are known issues or overwhelming disgust with.

@nyukki - i'll post polls tomorrow - we'll play ONE of the options each week, but feedback over the next 24 hours will help me to replace any of the bad options.

Cool cool.

BTW I've found Steam keys over here for all three of the week 1 options so all games are accessible for me.

Ok, so I grabbed what I could and tested the MAME games out in the new version 0.155

Working:

Fantastic Parodius - Parent ROM titled Fantastic Journey (Europe), also requires Konami GX BIOS to play
Battle Garegga - No problems here.
Sol Divide - No problems here.
EspGaLuda - No problems here.
Ketsui - Requires PolyGame Master (PGM) BIOS - if you played DDP DOJ in September you already have it.
Deathsmiles - No problems here (this was included with Skate's UME package from last year's STGT)

Not working:
Psyvariar 2 - NAOMI game; MAME doesn't do NAOMI very well at this time.
Otomedius Excellent - 360 exclusive; no arcade/MAME version exists.
Akai Katana - My sources and a web search did not have this ROM, nor was it included in the UME package.

That's where we stand on them.

I don't have Steam either, just GOG. If these are standalone releases available elsewhere, I may be able to grab them. (they're only available on Steam or require Steam activation - doh!)
Hopefully then my teammates can bail me out 8)

No, I don't have Steam. Danmaku Unlimited 2 would be the easiest choice for week one for me.

Other than that, I'm pretty much GTG with any of the other choices.

I'll replace Psyvariar and Otomedius if they have no way to play in MAME whatsoever. As for Akai Katana - the SH3 roms were dumped including Akai, but i'm not sure if it's working well or not. It's only a $10 game and we'd have a month to get it...of course i'm sure a couple of us may not have 360's though.

Let's replace Psyvariar 2 with:
Pro Gear or Dimahoo

Let's replace Otomedius with:
Sorcer Striker or Sengeki Striker

(I looked through the 360 list for an alternative and it was going to have to be another CAVE title or Raiden which we just did, or something like Bullet Soul or Ginga Force which isn't on MAME afaik)

Thoughts on the replacement options?
