I haven't tried playing Doom 64 on a LED/LCD tv but I know back in the day I always had to turn the brightness way up to see anything. It was my 1st N64 game and is def. my fav Doom game
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

I'm jealous. I've yet to find a really nice offbeat video rental store since I moved, but I really want to go seek out some strange, horror/Halloween dvds.

My recently acquired 3DO came with the 3DO Doom port which also unfortunately suffers from the terrible lighting issues as well as some apparent frame rate stuff. Is the n64 port pretty playable?

It's not a port. The graphics are redrawn and the levels are all new. Yes, it's very playable.

Yes, this. Played it earlier this year and loved it. It's still classic Doom but it has a more foreboding atmosphere due to a fantastically creepy soundtrack. Well worth a play.
