I enjoy some 2D space shooters, but rarely feel the need to own more. And I don't like 2D fighters at all. Or RPGs. Which is mostly what people talk about when they praise the saturn. Platformers, Action Games and Racing games, were all superior and available in greater quantity on N64.

You and Bernie Stolar both. I get where you're coming from though, it's just that my favorite genres are 1. Turn based RPGs. 2. 2D fighters. 3. Shmups and 4. 2D side scrollers. So the Saturn is actually my favorite system of all time. But for someone into the genres you listed, it's got sparse title offerings (some of them like Nights and Daytona USA were great though). I said this in the Nintendo forum, but I think that's why the PSX ultimately won, it had something for everyone and struck a good middle ground. Sega went for the old school arcade gamer and Japanese market, Nintendo went entirely into 3D territory. So in my case, I had a PSX and Saturn, but didn't get an N64 until years later. And I had friends who bought an N64 and PSX, but had no interest in a Saturn because they liked the genres you listed. Of course the common denominator being EVERYONE had a PSX.

It's all about preference. Some will like Saturn more, others N64 more.

I was going to make a April Fools thread and say Sega announced Dreamcast 2. But I was sure it was done before and I just couldn't play with Sega fans' hearts.
